Hellgate London demo is out!
And it gave me a "Minimum system requirements not met" message.
Hahah, well it worked fine for me.
I have to say, there are two completely different games in this demo:
The swordmaster half of the game is not up to scratch. The 3rd person FOV reminds me of the aliens from AvP (much too wide), the attacking animations don't feel quite right, and the swordmaster just doesn't seem to do damage fast enough. The pace is quite slow as a swordmaster too, waiting for his health/shields to regen and fighting just one/two enemies at a time.
The marksman half of the game RULES. It's like this game was actually made to be played as a marksman in the first place. Not only does he have range, the weapons seem more powerful (and more plentiful), the pace is a lot faster, and the skills are more fun to use.
The interface feels a bit clunky, and there is no spoken dialogue other than just "fun" comments characters make when you click on them (like in the Warcraft games). It's forgiveable, but the interface should be a bit less "clicking" intensive. For instance, the dialog is done in a small box with next/previous/ok buttons. You have to keep clicking "next" to read each sentence separately, then when you're done you have to click "ok". I'd prefer it if you just had to click them once to hear what they had to say, then just click anywhere to leave the chat window (yes, I know it's not fair for me to make too many comparisons to Diablo 2, but it's just annoying to have to click the next button so many times just to hear what they're saying). Also, they need to work on making their dialogue more interesting.
It's not the next Diablo like many people had hoped, it has it's faults but I think it will keep us happy until then.
Gimme ur peecee.

Hahah, well see I have ALWAYS been a big fan of the melee classes in Diablo. In fact, the only reason I ever made anything else was to farm items for my melee characters. This game's melee leaves a little to be desired from me at the moment, that's why it doesn't feel like Diablo to me.
What do you think about the skill trees? The skill trees are probably what made Diablo 2 so fun for me (yeah the random loot made the longevity incredible, but the skill builds are what made making characters fun). The skill trees in this game seem to remind me more of Titan Quest than Diablo.
Still is Diablo in my opinion.
Ok I take back what I said about the swordmaster. The problem was that last night the game was NOT giving me swordmaster items, so I was extremely weak. This time I got some decent weapons and armour right off the bat, so I'm ripping through zombies like nothing else.
It's over 1.4 GB. I am going to wait to download it, another day.
I can't figure out if you mean that in a good or bad way now. The obvious answer is "in a good way", because Diablo was freakin' AWESOME, but it's kind of hard to read body language and tone of voice over the internet.
