DX10 shining again! Well not for ATI.

The NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB gave us almost the same average performance in DirectX 10 versus DirectX 9, but DX10 performance was slightly better. With the enhanced image quality coming from soft particles and high quality shadows, we are excited to see the extra performance in DX10. That is what DX10 is supposed to bring us: higher performance and better image quality at the same time.

Better image quality at increased performance!

I'd say games should be made with openGL so we all could take advantage of the latests technology.

Not that I don't like nVidea, far from it.. but I just wonder when ATI will catch up to DX10.

Now just got to wait for OpenGL 3.0 to see how it will fare against DX10

Buts its a shame that UE3 engine doesn't use opengl.

I say that I used vista for the first time last night (damn that sounds perverted) and I thought it was awful. All the changes they have made to the file system and they way they have spilt up all the settings are terrible and to me make no sense. I will be using XP for a very long time to come.

That's what I thought the first time I used it and I'm now comfortable with it.
Most of the time, you don't have to know or care about those changes when you play games.

I'm sure its OK once you get used to it, but to me, a lot of the changes make no sense.
For example: In XP if I want to change my display settings, I open the control panel and double click the display settings icon. In vista all the display settings tabs are split up, so when you open the control panel, there are a load of different icons that you have to click on individually.

Vista is awesome. Well so long as it's the Ultimate version. You have to disable some things first though.

Anyway, I'll be building my Vista PC soon enough. I'm just wondering whether I should wait for the new nVidia cards or just go ahead and get a 2900XT.
