What the hell, Wii? Where are you?

So, eight and a half months after its release, I decide to buy a Wii. It's a rainy Tuesday night, I go out to a Best Buy, expecting to find a shiny new Wii waiting for me to buy. It's not there. Oh well, I guess I have to ask someone.

What? It's sold out, you say? How many did you order?!

Okay, maybe they had abnormally high sales. So I go to ANOTHER Best Buy. And guess what, they're sold out too.

Come back Friday, they said. They *might* get a new shipment in on Thursday, but you should call, and you better come on Friday since the Wiis obviously won't last much longer. I guess that means I know how I'm spending my Friday night.

But seriously... how can it be selling out like that so long after its release? I waited so long because I didn't want to wait hours and hours the night before for the store to get them in stock. That was November. This is August.

...Jesus Christ, that's insane. That's some amazing-selling console for this to be happening.

(For the record, they had lots and lots of 360s.)

The Wii is awesome. I think Nintendo has gone a lil batshit with Fit, and I stoically await a damn RPG but yeah... Wii is the shit with wings and spinnin rims. Order it online...

Are you happy that all they talk about is Wii Fit and some other dumb shit or would you rather see Super Smash Bros. Brawl?

I'm liking this system less and less, haven't touched the system since January. :/

The only game I'm looking forward to is Brawl. Never got into the 3D Metroids or Mario so wont be getting those. I really don't like the Wii Fit or Wii Zapper and I've just had enough of Wii Sports and all those other mini games.

Anyway if you find out the days they get the shipment it's pretty easy to get one, you'll just have to wait an hour or two. Meh.

Well for a company that can no longer technologically compete with Sony and Microsoft, they are making an absolute fuck ton of money. They just cornered an unexploited market, good for them I say.

Good for them, bad for the gamers. I mean I can see a similar course of life span for the Wii of that of its predecessor the GameCube. It comes out with 1-3 games that are good per year. That leaves many hardcore gamers without much games. I mean yeah they are making money, but what about those who expected more this time around. I mean even if they got more third party support this time there still isn't much to play besides first party titles.

Yeah, but you need to remember that hardcore gamers are not their target audience, if you want hardcore gaming, get a PS3 or a 360.

Nintendo could have decided to make a supra powerful console like the 2 others and sold it at a high price, but it would have been stupid and profitless and what they decided was indeed wise :)

edit : PS3 has not much games either, and a lot of hardcore gamers are better with a PC than a console :p
