I was hoping they'd manage to keep the Fallout atmosphere, gameplay and humor somewhat intact... :(
I'll still be buying it, but I guess I'm going to be a bit disappointed.
Yay for Elder Scroll: A Post Nuclear Role Playing Game
Fuck you Bathesda...
Ehhhhh, it doesn't sound...too bad. I think it might be alright(granted, I haven't played Fallout 1 and 2 yet, but was planning on getting and playing them within the month, after I saw the Fallout 3 screenshots, so I don't really have much room to talk). I don't expect greatness, but it might at least entertain.
Jak, you wouldn't say that if you played Fallout 1 and 2.
Fallout 1 and 2 are amongst the most fun RPG's I've played. There's really nothing else that can replicate the same experience you get from playing a Fallout game. It's a special blend of gameplay, environment/atmosphere and humour that just can't be found anywhere else. You really should play the originals, just keep in mind that they are old games. Don't start playing them with unrealistic expectations, just play them expecting some good fun and you'll have a blast.
And pick Bloody Mess.
from what i have read bethesda is not going to butcher this game too much..
first and unlike obli they will make 2 different interfaces (resp. for PC and console), the damages are localised and can make a giant ant mad if you take its antennas off, fights can be in real time or not, and lots of other things...
Fallout 1 and 2 are at least as good as Baldur's Gate. I won't say that they're as good as Planescape: Torment, but on the other hand I think that Torment is the best game ever bar none.
Anyway, Bethesda are idiots. With the fanbase that Fallout has they really shouldn't need to dumb down Fallout 3. Hell, you could probably make millions by re-releasing Fallout 2 with better graphics.
