Two games that use it are finally out.
What do you think of Microsoft's attempt at unifying PC gamers?

I don't think it's worth it, you just need a nice PC to play pretty much everything (or almost everything).
It's a nice try from windows but it probably won't be too succesful.

And it seems it can't do anything else, at least from the article in kotaku.

Msoft trying to extend it's dominance in every way possible. Valve has been doing a fantastic job with steam.

Steam is broken on so many levels.

Spend a couple of hours at their message board and you will see that there are many people having issues with it and they are quickly silenced and their thread locked.

I was a former Steam Support member and there are many counter-measures that resemble AOL's support.

I don't think steam is perfect because it still lacks things xbox live can boast but for being free I don't find it too shabby. At first I was uber pissed at steam I mean what a load of crock I need steam in order to play my games but since it was their I bought a game or two and liked the automatic updates even if they are slow as hell.

The thing about Msoft and they're effort in trying to make Live the forefront of the pc gamer community is that they will make it happen. They will make it so integrated with their OS and future games that it will seem as not even an option. It is not right nor fair but its how I see it will happen and me personally can't do anything about it because if my pc was dx10 compliant I will play the big games and those big games will only be in windows and most likely push live to being number one. I said it alot of times hopefully with future progress from Sony and Nintendo in their online gaming pursuit Msoft will drop the subscription fee and I might get into live anywhere.

GFW LIVE is NOT integrated with Vista.
You can only use it while you are IN a game.

GFW LIVE does NOT require DX10 compliance.

Most games are NOT going to use GFW LIVE.

Oh? I thought live will be integrated into vista so you can see when your friends are online and they can message you if you want to play. I don't know where I saw that but it's most likely a future plan.
