    DVD's an extra.

    It's about next-gen CONSOLES, not next-gen technology.
The DVD extra is what killed the Dreamcast. It was doing well, then Sony came out with the Playstation2 come out with the DVD extra and Bam. No more Dreamcast.

I don't believe that the Dreamcast's death really had anything to do with the lack of a DVD drive. It was a poorly marketed console with lack of real developer support, and Sega already had a much smaller fanbase than Sony and Nintendo did. They were already on their way out at the time.

Not only that, but the Dreamcast was a MAJOR victim of piracy. Anyone with a cheap boot-disk could play copied games, so why would anyone want to buy originals?

I believe that the main reason the Playstation two was selling in Japan so well, was because it was a cheap DVD player at the time. Then the gamers followed. The Dreamcast was going to have a DVD in it. However, they didn't have time to put it in.

$750 dollars (what it cost in Australia at launch) is not a cheap DVD player. $150 was considered a cheap one back then. I doubt the pricing was much different in Japan.

DVD player is a good extra (I had a PS2), but seriously, are you going to buy a $200 (name the price if you want) system just because of that? You can buy a cheap ass dvd player ($20).

And yeah, technology has to be together with the console, but what i meant by 'next-gen' is that the Wii is a actually doing a 'next-gen gameplay'.

The PS3 and 360 just have better graphics, other than that they are the same as their old console. And by the sales i could say people actually give a shit about gameplay more than "ohh... it can play dvd!!".

For me, all 3 consoles are good and have their pros and cons, but the Wii stands out more because of what it's trying.

Nintendo has the console and can do a shitload of things with it, the question is "Will they use the Wii to it's full potential?". As mentioned above, SSBB will use a classic control (well, that's what i read), i got annoyed by that fact, but i will still buy it. Let's hope they stick to the Wii remote from now on.

@neekz0009: Define "serious gamer" to me. About the games, we all know that both the Wii and PS3 are lacking games at the moment, but that will change in some months.

Zelda TP was an original release for the Gamecube, i think they are now making a Zelda for the Wii. I don't know about Paper Mario tough.
    Greetings earthlings.

I hate nintendo, i cant stand it. Nintendo only make games for little kids, the only M rated games they have on it weren't created by nintendo, heck Nintendo themselves said they created games for kids.
I'd rather get a PS2 or xbox than a Wii.

    ouch 'xxDollarBillxx' thats harsh.
Tho i understand what your saying. 'Wii" is not that bad, can do alot better tho.
Your more on the M, and T rated games, same as me.
I just play (almost) any type of game, as long as its not girly, extremey cutesy or just dumb, i may look at it and give it a try.
Let us pray the Pimp's Prayer:
Lord please pray for the soul of this
***** and guide my pimp hand and make
it strong lord so she might learn a
    hoes place -amen-
