I heard that in the news that PS3 lied they said it is compatible with ps2 and ps1 but in the end it wasnt...

Well seeing as they have about 1,000 ps2 games Backwards compatible when the EE was removed I think there on track to great support.
Out of a total of 16,478 PS and PS2 games combined?

The site with the compatibility list doesn't specify ps1 games but I mean if the dreamcast was able to emulate ps1 games im sure the ps3 would make it a breeze but good question.
Um, true.. But still, they've got a lot of problems doing it. I heard even the Final Fantasy series doesn't run on the non EE/GS version.
