Valkyrie Profile series
I thought someone would make a thread about this game, but seems like no one does, so I decided to make one.
So, anyone ever heard of Valkyrie Profile, or play the game? Developed by Tri-Ace, it comprises of 2 series Valkyrie Profile Lenneth for PSP and Valkyrie Profile Silmeria for PS2. I've play both of these games, and I can say that they are one of the best rpg series I ever played, especially VPSilmeria. The graphic was very nice, and the battle system was one of the unique one I ever played.
TBH, I don't think I've ever even heard of the series, it certainly doesn't ring any bells.
its square enix production and valkyrie 1 was orginanly for ps one
i have played it and i have to say that it is indeed quite a good RPG game
as it's based in nordic mythology (my favorite) i liked it a lot, tough i've only played it once (in a PSX emulator)
i may play it again later, and i want to play the one for PS2 but that probably will only happeonly if i get an emulator
overall it's a very good RPG and recommended for anyone who likes this kind of games
the storyline is very well developed too
if there is to be a CON to the game, it would be that it is a bit easy, but well in RPG's the most important thing is storyline (for me at least)
also i didn't liked that some things were changed from the nordic mythology (Frey being a girl, the Vanirs being actual enemys)
don't know if i missed something. that's all for now
Yes it's square-enix production, but I'm talking about the developer, it's developed by Tri-Ace, same company which make Radiata Stories and Star Ocean. And, Valkyrie Profile 1 was indeed originally comes to PS1 around 2000, then it's been remake for PSP (entitled Valkyrie Profile Lenneth) with exactly the same system and gameplay, with changed in FMV.

And, there's much difference in valkyrie profile plot and the actual mythology. Like Lenneth being greatest Goddess who govern the destiny (as what Oiin said at the beginning of VP1: Actually it's not the valkyrie, instead it's Verdandi, Urd, and Skuld. And Surt is a Jotun, not Vanir. Loki isn't half vanir-aesir, but he's actually a full aesir. And much more...
btw, if you haven't try Valkyrie Profile Silmeria, you should play it if you're a fan of Valkyrie Profile. imo, it's much much better than VP1.
IMO, Valkyrie Profile Silmeria was quite a shit...
hmmm well i may as well try it whenever i can
and yeah, some changes but not THAT many in comparison to other games i've played
another one would be... Odin, he looks NOTHING like he's supposed to, and Surt doesn't really look like a giant, and Freya ain't a Valkyrie in the gam and etc...
but you get my point :P it's the game that has been the closest to the mythology that i've ever seen (rpg wise of course)
if you know one better in that area please tell me =)
Why don't you give at least a reasoning to support your argument? ;)

Well, at least what they do is bringing the characters and world (asgard, midgard, nifelheim etc) into the game for us. Its a game after all, might not necessarily need to follow the real myth.
btw, which ending did you get for VP1? And after that did you explore the Seraphic Gate?
terrible voice acting, limitless amount of in-game cutscene conversation pauses between characters which it made me felt like turning off the game while the characters were chatting (this shit was also an issue in game call Magna Carta), lame story (I swear, I found the first VP's plot more interesting than this), weak character development and persistent leveling demands. But Mainly I found this game sucks because overall it was boring.
