    Default .hack gu

Has anyone played the .hack gu triology? it's a great game series.the first four were okay.great story but average gameplay.with gu you can say they pretty much learned their lesson.i actually played the first part aka rebirth and it far exeeded my expectations.the game flows so smoothly you never get bored the sense of freedom you get to feel is exilerating yet you can never get lost there are a lot of funny things to do (from dungeon exploration to avatar battles and the numerous side-quests in the game) anyway if you're an j-rpg go ahead and play the first volume it's already out in the u.s and if you're not you also need to buy the game you'll never regret it

yeah, i heard that it was really good and it far exceeds that of the first four. i think the first four was more of storyline than gameplay. i hope to play soon since i heard it was so good.

yeah the first four were actually more focused on storyline rather than gameplay.wich was meh fine i guess.but that's not the case in gu.you see the battle system is more action based.so no more hit and run tactics.in gu you can strike.guard.use special attacks or magic.chain combo attacks (rengeki) change weapons 2 in rebirth 3 in reminesce and 4 in the third volume.anyway the towns are actually more interactive.there are a lot of things to do between riding a motocycle or taking care of your guild.the graphics are on a whole diffrent level and are very detailed with some nice colors and visual effects.sometimes i find myself doing nothing but watching the sunset in mac anu.
concerning the storyline it's way better than the previous one.in a nutshell it happens seven years after the first four games.the previous version of the world (the one in wich the first series happened) was destroyed in a fire and is replaced by the world:r2 where player killing is allowed so the world is now rampaged by player killers and is more dangerous and unstable than ever in the chaos of these events the plot focuses on a legendary pk called tri-edge whose victims are said to never be able to returne to the game...
anyways.hack gu is awesome you should definetely try it

Interesting, I mean the story does sound kinda lame - you know people not being allowed to play a game again isn't as threatening as being put into a never ending coma, do you mean the people killed are basically damned in some way? Also is there any character connections between the first series and the second?

when tri-edge kills people they go into a coma state. and i don't think there is a connection except for piros and the seven waves.

what i meant by not being able to return to the game was falling in a coma just like in the first four games and the story really isn't lame it's just that i didnt want to get into the details anyway i just wanted to say that unlike the first series where the story got dull and boring by each episode (the gameplay didn't help much) in gu the story gets better and better the more you progress in the game the more it's mysteries deepen the more motivated you become...
and what's really amazing is that unlike the previous games where .hack infection sold pretty good and the other games sold worse and worse in gu it was the opposite with vol 3 selling 100 000 unit in the first day you can check .hack gu on wikipedia to make sure
