We all gonna die... and I kinda like it
I bought the game the day it came out, and it's awesome. If you liked games like System Shock or Deus Ex, you'll definitely like this. It's simplified a bit, since there's no character statistics to worry about, it's all about your equipment and artifacts. The real beauty of this game lies in the extremely atmospheric, open-ended game world, and the AI which makes the animals, people and situations much more believable. If you hear noises and gunfire off in the distance in this game it's not just some atmospheric sound-effect, it means that someone is actually fighting for their life out there somewhere.
Beware though, the game has performance issues, and a few bugs (although they've just released a patch which addresses quite a few of these). If you have anything less than an 8800GTX (or *possibly* an X1950XTX) though I wouldn't recommend playing it on the highest graphical settings. In fact, even on medium it will probably still slow down a bit. A good CPU is a must too, due to the amount of AI routines being calculated in the background.
Runs like butter on my second PC, which isn't even the most powerful one I have.
Anyway, the game is poop. Feels cheaply done with no technical polish to it. Presentation values are major suckage. Animations are janky, audio isn't great (weapons feel cheap), etc
For all it's faults, it's an awesome game. Basically, it's what I wanted Oblivion to be like on the immersion level. Though Shimmering Isles is basically leagues beyond Oblivion.
Too bad about STALKER's dynamic lighting and my video card not getting along though. :/
Thanx for the info, Mad )) bought it already. Caught some bugs (and installed a first patch ^___^) but still like it especially in Russian version (if someone doesn't know - gameworld is partially based on a book by russian writers, though they wrote it long before Chernobyl'86)
About stats increasing - well, as in any action/shooter game you need some reflexes so it's ok ))
btw runs pretty smoothly on my pc - Core Duo 2.13, X1950XTX and 1Gb Ram DDR 800 (need 2, i guess. Waiting for my next paycheck)
Thanx people ))) Guess I'm gone for some time - aarrrrgh ))) my poor neighbours...

Damn. AK sucks - one of the the most reliable assault rifles in the world is jamming every other shot. Gonna add some damage to make it look real. Got an info - there's a possibility to unlock some feats, e.t. vehicles, weapons, weapon and armor upgrades and repair, stationary MG e.t.c. I'll try.

I've finished this game with three different endings, its a good game, but it could have been so much better (and bigger) considering how long it took to release.
I didn't realise how rich and highly populated the are around Chernobyl was.
This game needs a lot of work done to it, hopefully we get a new patch soon.
It was really welcomed I mean the pc shooter was wearing thin and the game sure was fun but I highly recommend to not even bother with the console versions.
What console versions? As far as I'm aware, they don't have any plans to release it on any console.
