Even though sony has "shipped" over 1 million systems, how many of them are still sittin' on shelves????

Does it really matter? the numbers say how many are sold. If you wanna talk 360s, i spent almost all of last year working in Target's electronics department, there was never a day that passed when there weren't 20 plus 360s sittin in the stock room. hell we were lucky if we sold two or three a day. And everyone has hardware production troubles, so dont even start in that direction.

Now steal, that is just rude, I was trying to be gracious to you by saying I could be wrong, not bothering to check wiki's sources to see if they are right, but instead dismissing them out of hand is very rude(and Yankee-ish =p). As a matter of fact, on checking them, I see that they are right.

Check the sources yourself, if you want. The one that your really want, the first quarter of sales for the 360(that is Q4 2005, by the way), though, is no longer available, but I found it somewhere else.

    http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/9943/NPD-Group-Releases-Xbox-360-Sales-Data/&docTitle=NPD%20Group%20Releases%20Xbox%20360%20Sa les%20Data%20-%20Xbox

    Specifically:
Total number of units sold by the Xbox 360 top 19 (18 launch titles & Perfect Dark Zero: Limited Edition): 1,273,352.
By the end of the year, 1,273,352. That is 7 weeks and 1 day after launch. So, we need to divide 1 million by six to find out how much PS3 made each week, then add that number onto 1 million and compare that to Xbox 360 sales.

1,000,000/6= 166,666.67, or, shall we say, over 100,000 less than the 360 would have made if it(the PS3) had been shown in a seven week scale. It is kotaku, it seems, not wikipedia, that is wrong.

P.S. - Bear in mind, that article was from Dec. 14, 2005, when there was still another 17 days left in that quarter(the heaviest selling days of the year, too). The number of Xbox 360's sold is no doubt even higher than the number I quoted.

Yankeeish? no fair. my geological placement had nothing to do with what I said, nor did i intend on sounding rude towards you. and Im not quite sure I understand your math (not saying its wrong). Ill look into it though since what you found is actually, like you said, what I was looking for.

edit. i get your math now... gj... a quick search found that the ps3 sold 244,000 systems in january, continuing from where you left off i figure the difference in launch sales for the first 7 weeks (just to be even) to be ~40k... =|

Good news (hopefully this not one of those April fools joke)

    http://www.vgrc.net/articles-562.html

a source at Konami (who wishes to remain anonymous) sent us some juicy details:

"Yes, in fact, we are working on putting Metal Gear Solid 4 on the Xbox 360 and PC, which should both come out roughly 6 months after the PS3 release. However, we've been working with Microsoft so the 360 and PC versions will both take advantage of Xbox Live and Games for Windows Live, with such features as achievements and the ability for 360 and PC owners to play against each other in multiplayer.

I'd love to give you some more details, but this is already pushing it. We are making the big announcement July 11th at this year's E3, so you'll just have to wait until then. Sorry!"
if the ps3 loses exclusives quiz still on, I did remember saying something about Metal Gear, didn't I :P

    Another proof, maybe :P
