In a new interview with Jack Tretton, GamePro magazine got the president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America to open up about the company's stance on the SIXAXIS controller. When GT broached the topic, Tretton had the following to say: "You will see peripherals coming from SCEA that will address the interests of the U.S. consumer. I don't have anything to tell you specifically, but we're open to changing the Sixaxis controller."

A major complaint that's been lodged regarding the controller by countless members of the media and gaming community is the lack of rumble, which the SIXAXIS controller doesn't have. Is the extremely careful phrasing by Tretton his way of hinting that we could be seeing rumble functionality in the near future (after all, Sony and Immersion have kissed and made up)?

well really it's not sony's fault, they couldn't have predicted when if ever they'd be on good terms with the rumble company, so it's either halt the launch of the system till the lawsuit is completed, and wait to see if they can patch things up, or release the system with no controllers? yeah those would have worked great, it just goes to show sony listened to whoever the hell was demanding rumble, even though myself i couldn't care less about rumble one way or the other, i still don't think it's as bad as the wii, they'll have a different controller for each game soon enough, oh you want to play a fps? too bad you don't have the gun add on controller, oh you want to play classic games? wait you don't have the normal controller, oh you want to play star wars? where the fuck is your wiisaber!

How much do you want to bet that Sony will phase out the SIXAXIS in favour of the "SIXRUMBLEAXIS"?

You know what? This makes sony 100% fucking hypocrites.

They said rumble was the last generation, now they want it on their precious controller. This is just too damn priceless.

Sony reveals Dual Shock 3 controller.
Basically a wireless Dual Shock 2 with triggers.

nah, i dont think they're gonna do dual shock 3. Wouldnt make sense. Either someone will make good use of it sooner or later, or even if no one does, there's no point in removing it from the controller. It can be used as a "additional" feature of the controller.
