Well Sega's releasing it onto the 360 in a couple of months, so they should be able to recover some of their money.

Nintendo's friend code, Motorstorm's lack of online play, online SDK for the Wii just being distributed last week, etc.

Yeah they're not too big about online, which doesn't bother me I'd rather play against people in the same room either via lan or splitscreen myself, but I've been repeatedly told I'm weird. I was reading Kotaku's page about this as well and there was one or two semi valid comments that make me think while the opening sales haven't been spectacular they might pick up. That and I think their love for Virtua Fighter is more to do with the arcade version than any home console version.

Funny thing is the arcade died in the US. Being online is the new arcade. I don't understand why Japan wouldn't like it?

It's Japan! They want to protect their kids from online predators but let the 50 year olds molest them everywhere else!

I honestly don't know why Virtua Fighter hasn't kept a name. In all honesty, it is THE fighting game. Tekken is like playing checkers compared to Virtua Fighter's chess in terms of...well...everything except sexual appeal. Akira is a madman in terms of control and is just that satisfying to master.
