    Default Slim PS-2

I was thinking about getting a slim PS-2. Then I saw this part of the wikipedia article on it:
In September 2004 Sony unveiled its third major hardware revision (V12, model number SCPH-70000). Available in November 2004, it is smaller and thinner than the old version and includes a built-in Ethernet port. In some markets it also integrates a modem. Due to its thinner profile, it does not contain the 3.5" expansion bay, and therefore does not support the internal hard disk drive, and now uses an external power supply, like the GameCube. The removal of the HDD bay has been criticized as a limitation [citation needed] due to the existence of titles such as Final Fantasy XI which require the use of the HDD. The official PS2 Linux kit also requires a hard drive bay to function. The SCPH-70000 is also the only series to work with the MultiTap expansion allowing 4 players to play at the same time. Third party connectors can be soldered into the unit giving hard drive support, however IDE connections were completely removed in the V14 revision eliminating this option.
Are there any games that won't play with the Slim PS-2(excluding FF XI, I don't care about online games)? Should I go for the older version of the PS-2, or is this version fine?

P.S. - This is specifically about games and gaming systems, so I opted for this subforum over the Tech Support forum...

it can play just about all of the same games. ff xi is just weird. i have both the original and slim for some reason, but i like the bigger one because even though smaller's better for travel, it overheats faster. if you're a big gamer, get the bigger one, but if you play less than 8 hours, it's cool to get the smaller one. i like the big one just because the cd player on it comes out while the small one it pops open like the ps1.

Not that I know of. FFXI was the only notable one to use the EXHDD... so you should be fine in terms of all the other games out there.

    Ok.
I originally played the SNES and Genesis, and tried the PS with Resident Evil(the thing at Blockbuster where you rent the system and the game for 50 bucks). I was underwhelmed.

I went from SNES to 64, then to XBox. Now that the 360 and the PS3 are out, I am interested in trying the older(and cheaper) PS and PS2 games. Especially the FF games which I have heard so much of.

So, Slim case is good, as long as I don't play more than 8 hours straight, right?

    Any game recommendations?

If you like your rpgs give Shadow Hearts Covenant a try, the story is pretty cool and the action ring system is pretty nice as well, if you're good you can get a discount in the shop when you buy stuff. That and you hunt for softcore gay smut to give to a gay tailor to make dresses for your puppeteers doll.

I really enjoyed Kingdom Hearts as well. The onimusha games can be quite fun.

The entire LoK series. You might not enjoy Blood Omen as much as the Soul Reaver games and Defiance which have a more platform/action basis than the original Blood Omen, though I love it dearly.

I love Need for Speed... If you like street racing the only other title out there for you would be Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero (since 3 sucked)
