$1200? Just over £600, I spent £670 on my PC originally, all I got was a AMD sempron 3000+, a GeForce 6600, 1GB of slow RAM, an 80GB HD and a 15" screen.
there is the price for vista too... => +750 $ ! (yeah, french fnac sells it twice the american prize, lol)
AMD seprom 2800+ (I know, crappy)
768 MB ram
640 GB HDD (in total)
18" monitor. (not that flat screen, my monitor is old, lol)
= a bit under 500 euros.
I'd have to upg my videocard (100-200 euros) and possibly more memory and/or new processor. (no idea how much those cost).
Now the 360 costs around 400 euros..
Uh, actually, looks like it would get pretty damn close with the prices and such.. :P
But then again, I could play any 360 games without the need of upragading but with comps i'd need to upg videocard later on if I intend to play new games. :S
Oh and on a site note, Jyuu, you're asking if SD spent less than 150$ on clothes? wow, how much do you use? I use total or 0 euros a year on clothes (parents dont buy either), got enough clothes for myself right now. <.<
98, that is the 8800, not the 8600. Not out yet. =p

It wouldnt feel nice to buy 50-70 $ games just to notice your comp's not good enough to run them. :/ *talks from experience*
Currently I can play the games I got but they could be better, a lot.
Oh yeah, dont worry DE, I havent bought a game for.. 4-5 years, guess we are on the same level. :P
Ehm, back on topic.
I like the 360 since it has gears of wars, halo 3 (dont know if it's any good but I kinda liked 1st and 2nd) and even oblivion (which my comp barely runs it [it could be a lot smoother ]), I know that wii got that motion thing and it's probably pretty awesome with the zelda game but honestly.. I never liked zelda.

You guys really don't know how to choose parts when building a PC. =\
Moreover Vista Ultimate costs less than $300.
Oh yeah, I forgot that most people just stick to Dell, HP or Emachines.
