Thread: Gears Of War

Ok I admit I don't have this game but holllow crap (bleach reference, im a big nerd eh) ^^ Anyway this game looks so siick, anyone have it, I've heard nothing but good things I'ts making me think of getting a xbox360

I don't know what this game is about (I assume FPS or something of the sort). I don't know how good it's supposed to be except for random hype. But I DO know that this has the most effective ad EVER.

I don't play FPS games. I don't like the X-box and never planned on getting a 360 (not really, anyway). I hate war games that aren't strategy-based (like Starcraft and all that stuff). Yet the ad alone has made me want to see what this game is about.

Yeah. That's a good ad. =P

its actually a third person shooter, which in my opinion is much better than an FPS. imho its the only game that could make me ever consider thinking of wanting to possibly buy a 360... and Halo 3 couldnt even do that.

...Close enough to FPS (although maybe it's more similar to adventure games, then?). Does look good, though.

its really good when you play with a friend but then playing alone after you play with a friend was kinda weak to me......havent played online multi yet but i hear its the best part.

the stroy was weaker than i hoped it would be but other that that it is really fun and graphically amazing

That's because you're not a Halo fanb0i.

It's a great game. Just don't expect a lot from campaign mode (solo) on casual. It's a short, short game and you'll breeze through it in no time. If you have FPS (or just shooting games in general) experience you can start on hardcore and have a blast. Campaign Co-op (online or not) is so much fun though, that'll last you ages, the game is fluid and crisp. It'll take a bit to learn how cover works but once you do it'll be second nature.

The real meat of the game is in Multiplayer though, you'll probably spend most of your time playing that.

umm...played it a good amount. Good game...but, what i didnt like was...

- the "a" button is used for nearly everything.
- when ur running, you cant see jack squat, cuz he fills up the entire screen.
- many of the monsters (locust) you fight have an annoying ass scream.

i've never played the multiplayer yet tho, heard it was good, but is it kinda limited? like its only 4 vs 4? nothing else, like in halo where u can do rumble pit, flags, or set up specific games like all shotguns, etc.

The run was suppost to be like that, because the character is running intensely they focus on nothing else, running is just a way to get to cover faster, and you can see, you see what's ahead of you.

And A is used for the cover system, running and rolling, that's it. You can't aim with it, crouch, melee, switch weapons, reload, shoot/throw, revive, open doors or use switches with it.

My big question is how many hours of solo to beat the game on hardcore?

I hate buying a game with short playing time. I remember shadow of the collusus, one of my favorite games ever, beautiful game, beautiful story, but i bveat it in only 7 hours of play time. About a week. Not cool.
