So it's out in Europe, eh?
Are there any European fellas out there who have played the game who can enlighten me about the game?
I'm a big fan of the Gothic series and I can't wait for the NA release.

i can't and most surely won't play it, but as far as i know, there are 2 kinds of players :
- those who really like it even though it is buggy and unoptimized as hell
- those who didn't like it because it was buggy and unoptimized as hell
i'd like to know if you can play it fine on your desktop ;p
You know, a 58 MByte patch was released one day before you could buy the game.Quote:

Some friends told me, it's still not perfect
i didn't thought the patch was this big :o
but it's a shame, because it is like they didn't beta tested the game at all !!! Of course we are used to it in rpg games with the TES saga which is very buggy too, but oblivion was not too bad..... and now gothic 3 is out, with more bugs than the most bugged TES game XP
i think one of the bug was that when you released your pet, it attacked you...... (then the devs will tell you they beta tested the game >.>)
also, it seems that even people with very good computers have problems, and 4GB of ram is not overkill with this laggy game LOL
ps : don't misunderstand me, there are people who don't experience that much problems too !!!
:p
Maximum settings at 1680x1050.

I should get my 30" LCD back from work and try it at 2560x1600.
The game is a memory hog, using 1.7GB of RAM just for the game itself.
Performance is very good, better than Oblivion or Cellfactor, which are the two most demanding games out there.
I don't think it will be playable at 2560x1600 but it is worth a shot. I'll probably play it once I get my two 8800GTX.
compared to oblivion, what do you think of it ?? graphic wise :) (on your screen the textures seem good, but the 3d models' shapes seem really simple)
and gameplay wise too, if you had enough time to play it ^^
Better texturing work on buildings, lower polycount, worse props but a far better user interface (yay for PC-only development).
Basically, it is using 512MB of video memory but not fully using raw graphics horsepower capabilities.
some users said that the game runs better in higher details than low, can you confirm this? also the game seem to use depth of field effect for distant objects as well as parallax mapping for stone floors.
The depth of field thing is such a fake one. Since the engine's crap, they just totally BLUR everything that's beyond a certain distance.
If you want to see REAL deapth of field, wait for Crysis.

And here's their so-called depth of field.
