Its fun to shoot at nuclear reactors.
So who is playing the Battlefield 2142 demo?
The new titan game type is awesome (OK, so its still pretty much just conquest with an extra gimmick, but its still cool).
I'm not sure which class I like best (when the game is released and I get some unlocks, I'll probably go back to being a sniper (recon) though), my only gripe is that the weapons don't seem as "meaty" as they should (the weapons look big, but they feel like they are spitting when you would expect them to go "boom boom"), but hey, at least the support and engineer class don't suck anymore (I can actually hit things with the support class!), it was a really good idea to merge engineer and anti-armour, although I think they should increase the splash damage radius on the rockets a bit, 'cos ATM they are useless against infantry unless you get a direct hit at point blank, which usually damages you as well.
Other gripes (OK, so I ahd more than one gripe) include:
One thing (that should probably be another thing) I don't like about this demo, is that we don't have any access to the unlocks, I can understand why (this is an open beta, so there are no ranked servers, and no account is allowed to keep points awarded) but since there are only four classes available this time, we don't have much to choose from.
- The aerial transport is really unresponsive (except when you make it nose dive, for some reason its really responsive when you try and crash it into the ground), but maybe I just need to adjust the controls in options, but youd think in the future with all that new technology, they would have aircraft that were slightly more responsive at turning than an oil tanker.
- The sniper rifle moves up and down with your character's breathing, I can sort of understand this with the EU sniper rifle, but the PAC rifle has a fucking bi-pod! And even if it didn't, the movement is quite large and it doesn' stop between breaths (snipers don't shoot while breathing, they breath out, hold their breath, then shoot).
- The engineers rockets aren't that powerfull, by the time I've taken out a tank or a walker, I'm almost out of ammo, and youd think that in the future they would have invented something a bit more advanced than wire guided missiles, we already have man portable fire and forget anti-armour missles today.
But anyway, enough of me being negative, I think it'll be a great game when its released (after a bit of post beta/pre release tweaking).
P.S. BTW, if any of you have a BF2 account, you might want to head over to http://battlefield.ea.com/battlefiel...2/veteran.aspx and sign up as a veteran so that you get an instant promotion when you first sign into BF2142, (you have to do this before you start playing the final release, if you do it after, you won't get the promotion).

My prediction is that when it's released it's gonna be glitchy as hell. Plus the sysreq's will be ridiculously high...
Can't wait for it to come out *drools*.
I played the beta and demo and I think that BF2142 is a lame MODIFICATION of BF2 and doesn't deserve the price tag of a full game. Heck, it contains less vehicles than BF2 and is as buggy.
If you want to enjoy Battlefield, get BF2 and Special Forces (and Armored Fury if you want to expand it further).
The sys reqs are low.

This is also why infantry can't run as fast or for as long.
