Also chocobo world had a ending of sorts. Theres a short "scene" that you get when you marry the female chocobo and continue on the quest after rescuing your friend. To marry her you have get those 3 special events with her and to get those you have to play in normal or non-turbo mode and they'll automatically happen at certain rounds.
I cannot agree with you with the character development thing. In Final Fantasy VIII there are only six characters on your team. This small number of characters makes it more easy to develope them all (at least that's what I think) and that's exactly what they did. All the chars did have their story completed: Squall, Rinoa, Zell, Quistis, Selphie, Irvine, all of them had their moments in the game, if you played it you should've noticed that, or else you weren't paying attention at all.

And it wasn't stupid at all that they were in the same orphanatory (I think it's the correct form to write it), besides, Rinoa weren't there, and they forgot they've met before, because that's the price that they pay for using the GF's powers: their memories, and they didn't notice that until it was too late. It's an interesting story although many people like you didn't like it.
