Oh try Freespace 2. It's now abandonware, and truly a great game. I remember buying it all those years ago.

I don't think Freespace 1 or 2 would counts as an FPS.

What I love now is that Freespace is open source - but you still need the installation files. All that the OS version gives you is an engine to mess about with, and maybe a tiny something else.
