    Default Upright

What's the point of making them upright? I heard it was for spacee conservation, but wouldn't that make them that much easier to damage? Say, it's on a bookshelf and you have cats, cat knocks it over, BAM!, you're out a hefty sum.

No no, they were planning to make a disc that would combine both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD technologies together to get a universally accepted disc, but this has recently been dropped.
TDK has developed 100GB Blu-Ray discs. Imagine the possibilities...

no. Chipset. Sure the cd's could have some thing to do with it but it mainly has something to do with the 1T-SRAM chip that preloads areas before you go into them. I read about it in EGM and Gameinformer.

they just need to use the space on the hdd for redundant data..... so the problem caused by the cd-rom would be solved easily.... no ?

oh, yes, i didn't remember, there will be no hdd with ps3 if you don't buy it in addition to the console

The ps3 controllers are being called the batarang on most forums...

anyways.. The Blu-Ray discs look impressive

I have noticed one thing on the ps3... It has a whole assortment of ports and memory card slots (4 USB Slots for controllers/keyboard, Flash stick slot.. etc etc) but.. the one thing i've noticed that it lacks. is the original memory slot for your ps2/ps1 memory cards... Hmm backwards compatabiblity but no memory slot yet? I see a few problems here. I hope their current PS3 console is just a protype and will address that huge hole..

I am already sold on the PS3, but it appears Xbox is making a few marketing decisions that make me wonder what Sony is thinking.. In the current era of gaming, players want to play with others. Sony appears to be taking a more 1-2 player approach, where as Xbox is going heavy onto the Multiplayer community. I think the Xbox may be more suggessful than the PS3 just because of that aspect.

XBox 360 supports 4 Wireless 1st party controllers | PS3 can support 7 Blue Tooth Wireless controllers.. [Q: How do you split a screen for 7-8 people?, unless its a game similar to Gauntlet Legends I see many problems]
In regards to my own statement: I guess its a good thing that Sony is making up to 7 wireless controllers and 4 corded controllers being an option. Imagine a game like Mario Party on PS3 (with 11 of your friends playing), that way you could truly have a party (btw, I hate Mario Party Games).

The Nintendo Revolution: This system is going to get pushed into the background like the GameCube did. I own a gamecube (and a ps2,psp,ds) and I admire the graphic quality that it is capable of handling with little or no load time. It is a pity that the Gamecube was poorly marketed and had a hard time competing with DVD capability [my arguement against the whole DVD capability of Xbox and PS2 was that I already own a DVD player and a computer capable of playing DVDs, so why would i want a 3rd DVD player?]

Anyways.. Thanks for reading a super long first post

The launch title for the PS3 is impressive. Devil May Cry 4, Gran Turismo 5, Tekken 6, Killzone 2, that game that runs on the Unreal 3 engine, etc.
Xbox 360 has much, much less than that.

I love the Gran Tourismo series, but apparently in 5 it may include collision damage . It does make the game more realistic though which is good. I just pray that they will not make it cost too much to repair your vehicle after it has damage. I think that game Darkness (or something similar) looks really interesting.

The only thing Xbox ever and will ever have going for it (in my opinion) is Halo and they managed to screw up wonderfully on Halo 2.

PS2 and game cube have the same res on your TV - 640x480. Also the PS2 is way underpowered compared to the gamecube, considering it came out a while before.
