Compare that to a mid-range computer with an X800XT. My friend runs Oblivion perfectly on this 2.6GHz Prescott, 768MB RAM and X800XT and hitches far less than on the 360.
Oblivion's a very bad example, it requires a LOT of processing power just for the absurd amount of NPC AI and scripts running in the background.

About your friend's specs running it with far less hitches, that's just BS. Turn all of the graphical options up to the maximum settings and watch it bend over your friend's computer and spank it 'till it cries.

How do I know this? My computer's specs are far greater than your friend's PC (almost identical to yours, the only differences being that my CPU is single core, and I only have one 7800GTX instead of SLI), and the game runs nicely indoors and in the cities, but starts chugging outdoors and during combat. Of course, I'm talking with absolutely every graphical option set to max.

Of course, his card is probably not capable of HDR lighting, so it's not going to be pushed as hard as it would on the Xbox 360 version, which runs HDR and FSAA at the same time. That's something that the PC version is not capable of at the moment, until a patch is released that can take advantage of the X1800XT/X1900XT architecture. It's not fair to make comparisons like that until the PC version is patched, and the two are on a level playing field.

Yes, I'm aware that the highest of the current high-end PCs still win in terms of power, but I don't feel that Oblivion is a very good example for you to base your comparison on.

But I'm betting that image files will be available for those games...remember PC is not static, and can be upgraded constantly to fit needs of new games...where you have to buy a whole console for PS3/XBOX360.
well modification on console will do the trick...
if i have not remember wrongly, blu-ray is a whole new type of coding. I dun think it can read VCD,DVD etc.... IF I Have Not Remember Wrongly... but i heard that PS3 is actually made similar to PC. Which means PS3 has duel function... And I dun think there will be pirated games for PS3 coz ar the cost really does not worth it... I dunno this is hard to say... Technologies advancement.
Oh yes, there will be zero loading time for PS3. WOO HOO~!
