Default Gaming absurdities

This is a thread for discussing stuff in games that just doesn't make sense. For example, why does every single bandit in Oblivion run around with Ebony, Daedric and glass equipment whan you get over level 20? Hell, ten bandits in daedric gear could probably take an entire city, so why the hell are they lurking in he forest? Also Mudcrabs must have some sort of racial death wish.

There's a mod that fixes this.
Oblivion has a messed up leveling system.

well i guess this is a positive absurdity but in all Nippon Ichi games the Level cap is 9999... who the fuck has time to level to 9999... who needs to deal 571,000,000 damage to an opponent... granted its cool as hell but still wtf. NIS America is made of gods.

RPGs in themselves are quite an absurdity:

You repeatedly fight until you get so strong that you can single-handedly kill someone that can destroy planets or something.

don't have a link but you should look at tesfiles or the official forums, because there are a lot of mods that "correct" that, giving less chance for bandits to be in full daedric etc

I mostly play RPGs, and typically Japanese ones, at that. So that's what I'll stick to here.

The Grand List of Console Role Playing Game Clichés. (I haven't seen this linked to yet. It's funny and worth the read, if you have time and haven't seen it yet.)

I've basically encountered every single one of those, but #30, "Selective Paralysis," is the one I find most irritating and nonsensical. Here it is, for those of you who avoid long blurbs of text like the plague:

Your characters must always keep both feet on the ground and will be unable to climb over low rock ledges, railings, chairs, cats, slightly differently-colored ground, or any other trivial objects which may happen to be in their way. Note that this condition will not prevent your characters from jumping from railroad car to railroad car later in the game.
