Thread: ATTENTION: Advertising a website here will get you PERMA BANNED.

Advertising a website outside of the web ads section is against site rules and can and will earn you a ban (us mods are very unforgiving on people who advertise a site).

Recently there was someone who had been advertising a site in threads in this section, every time he was banned he would create another account and continue to advertise. After a while he moved to other sections and started spamming to increase his post count so that he could post links.
The website he had been advertising has now been filtered. This should serve as a warning to those who wish to advertise, if you advertise too much, your website will be filtered out and you will lose all traffic, even from legitimate links.

Before the site was filtered out, a rule had been imposed in this section where anyone caught posting a link to his site (even if it was legitimate) would be instantly banned permanently. This rule has now been removed since it is obsolete. Having said that, a harsh stance will always be taken on those who wish to create a disturbance by advertising a website.

Please note, it is not against the rules to post links to websites, on topic and relevant links are always OK.

how should we know which one is the forbidden one?

give us some hints please? i'll ask 3 questions, tell me if i hit it:

Is it a website about mangas?
Is there illegal content on this website?
Tazmo or some super evil user has made his own occultism website?

They should be all the hints you need. Also this section isn't for posting web ads, so you shouldn't really need to post a web address unless you are linking to a specific page. For example, if someone asks for a series similar to FE, you wouldn't post www.mangatraders.com, you'd post something like http://www.mangatraders.com/manga/series/247. And thats only if you are giving a link to an example, the guy I keep banning keeps posting a link to this one site and saying "similar series can be found here"

You don't really have to worry about this, if you are obeying the rules you wouldn't be advertising a website anyway.

Anyway, when this prick stops advertising the website I'll remove this thread and we can go back to normal. But until then I want it known that I will not tolerate advertising in any of my sections.

The rule has been updated, since the website in question has now been permanently filtered (if you try to post it, it will appear as www.**********) you don't need to worry about posting the website accidentally and getting banned. For future reference, I will always ban a person who is perceived to be advertising, so remember always make sure your links are relevant to the topic.
