    Default Futari Ecchi scanlation.

I don't know if this is the best place to ask this, but why not try...

you may or may not know it, but FE is translated and distributed in french. a quick wikipedia search tells us that 15 volumes are currently out. in english... we have 4 full volumes and a good part of the 5th one scanlated. but if you frequent the FE boards, you'll agree with me: this is not enough.

I would like to try my hand at translating that french FE and destribute it to the Stoptazmo community. I don't understand japanese other then a few choice words, but being a french canadian, i'm pretty sure i can translate the french text into english.

i tried searching google for some french RAW's but alas, i couldn't find them. oishiimanga has done a wonderful thing by introducing us to FE, and i thank them for it, but it does seem to be taxing their resources to do both FE and Elfen Lied (which they both do very well). unfortunately for us, EL is in higher demand so we get less FE.

if anyone knows where to find the french versions of FE, can you point me in that direction? i'll do my best!

I'll help. I've got some photoshop skills, so could do the bubbles. And my French, while not native, like yours, is not bad, so I can probably do a decent job with proofreading. No idea where to get the French raws, though.

if you can find the raws ikhea, i would kiss you. i did another search today, but it was fruitless yet again...

i have been fiddling around with photoshop a little bit so i could try my hand at a one man job (being currently unemployed, it's not like i have anything else to do...), a good proofreader would be nice though, since english is not my native language.

the destribution of the finished product would probly be the most difficult thing for me, since this would be the first time i would actually have tried something like this. how do you go about it here? the only thing i can think of is having the download hosted on a free site like *shudder* geocities. anyone know of a good place host these without paying an arm and a leg?

    EDIT:
a quick search found a great hosting site for the files, 4shared.com. at least now i can use a geocities site for the shell, while all the actual stuff is on a virtual drive somewhere else

Good luck guys, this will be awesome if you can pull it off well (i.e. you can translate all the info and references in the manga). Also I'm more than willing to proof read.

There are several good tutorials on the web for how to do the photoshop part. It can be as involved as you want it to be. The big deal seems to be to get good scans to start with - flat pages, high res, flatten the curve, then resize to desired dimensions. I think Hiyoko no gao has links to how-to pages.

As for hosting, I'm a big fan of bittorrent. It would be no big deal to get onto one of the manga and anime trackers, then it's just a matter of making sure somebody is always seeding the file. There are also a number of file share services out there if you want clickable downloading.

I believe i found the raws!

i did a bit more digging and found out the french FE is known as "step up, love story". i also found a site that had the raws of volumes 1-13, so i am attempt to download 5-13:

(due to low post count, i cannot post the site itself, but it is an http site)

    elite-manga.ovh.org/index.php?idf=3&idse=528

if anyone knows another site, please inform me, but otherwise, i will attempt these painfully slow downloads.

Oh no no no no no, do all the editing (except for type setting) first, then resize. Trust me, when editing there is no such thing as too high a resolution.

Bittorrent is good, the only problem might be getting it seeded (the torrent will also eventually die out, so its not good in the long term, but for new rteleases its good). The best thing to do is to try and get it uploaded to #lurk on IRC and then make an entry on www.mangaupdates.com and then let sites like stoptazmo host direct downloads.
The other option is to team up with an already established group (you/we do the scanlation work and they distribute it through their already established links), ST has an unofficial in house scanlation group (http://illuminati-manga.com/), so you might want to contact coolerimmortal or GGpX (both are members here).

    EDIT: Awesome Oxybe, good job.
I'll post a direct link on your behalf.
