I think you'd have to say it's plot-lite (intentional misspelling) at best. OTOH, we're looking at sex instructional manual plus manga - we're a long way from furuba, kare kano, or love hina here... I suppose it could be written with more continuing plot, but that would really space out the sex instruction segments.

Well, the Karin anime taught me the word "hazukashii," but I was aware of the importance of the idea to the Japanese long before that.

My take on the guys: Makoto's a dumbass so you don't have to be. Remember, this is a shonen manga, so all the guys (so far anyway) seem to be clueless and mostly acting (and are drawn) too young for their stated ages. In fact, the only guy I'd say seems to be doing a moderately good job of being mostly non-clueless is Jun's b/f, who is the youngest guy in the manga.

Yura being ashamed/embarrassed is completely in character for her as defined. She's pretty much the Yamato Nadeshiko ideal in personality, so has zilch sexual experience until she marries, and has had it beaten into her by her mother from early childhood that she is a lady and must act thus-and-so. It's a culture that enforces conformity - the nail that sticks up gets hammered down. Hence her shame at being complimented by Makoto that she was a bit frisky in bed. Compare to the female leads in B-Shock, Midori no Hibi, and probably a few thousand other shonen manga.

This would all make sense but for the existence of her sister Rika, who is the cheapest date in Japan. Maybe all of their parents doting and expectation went to Yura, so Rika got a free ride and decided to be the wild child? I've seen families like that...

To be fair to Makoto, if Yura had married somebody like Takeshi next door, she would likely be as passive, inexperienced, and frustrated as Mika is. There's a reason Katsu Aki draws Mika with a headband - she could otherwise be Yura's clone in a lot of ways. Makoto may be clueless, but he passionately loves Yura and is willing to work hard to make everything as good as possible for her.
Not really the love+hate god, but the pic (from Midori no Hibi) is just too funny... Blog? Yeah.

    What, you think it's shoujo?

It's got helper hiragana beside the kanji, so it's definitely not meant for readers over age 18 or so as a primary market...

I'd say it's some mutant form of seinen, simply because no shonen manga could get away with graphic sex.

Well, Wikipedia agrees with you, for what that's worth. I think the case can be made either way, depending on just how you define the two genres.

There's a lot of range in shonen between game/monster of the week manga and heavy fanservice romantic/harem comedy manga. Certainly the way the characters are drawn is more reminiscent of shonen fanservice. I agree that the subject matter means that it can't "officially" be shonen.

That doesn't mean, however, that the mangaka isn't aware of how many 14-17 year old boys are likely interested in the manga and so plays to them (with Yura's unreasonably-large mammae, a young looking and acting Makoto, the whole Jun plot thread, and hiragana beside the (few) kanji).

Technically seinen, yeah. Actually seinen...not until about chapter 50, and then only sometimes, unless the seinen in question are all clueless otakus.
