Thread: Alternatives to Full Metal Alchemist

hey guyz.
i watched the original tv series when it first came out and i really love this series it is just amazing .am even starting to watch the remake now...read the chapters and everything
and i need more

i think the best part of this series is that its not afraid to get dark and dirty like you know ..kill off hughes , i mean even till know i dont think i have been as shocked as the time when the little girl got transmuted into a chimera by her father . and it deals with kind of anarchy which is always interesting


is there any other anime that has the same macabre like horror evil religious iconagraphy feeling like full metal alchemist ...i would love to get to know some other manga or anime like that ...

Try Gantz, it's how you described, just not religiously iconic.

hmm. I would like to find something with similiar atmosphere as well.
Especially now cause FMA manga fails to deliver this feeling lately. There aren't any shocking revelations anymore, and I don't see any interesting mysteries waiting to be solved.
There's lot of "Beating the Bad Guys" instead.

Theepan, you can check out an old anime called Ninja Resurrection; it's dark, violent and full of bizzare religious stuff.

I also recommend NOiSE (NSE) - its a short sci-fi manga, prequel to 'Blame!'
It's got atmosphere that resembles the FMA moments you mention, in fact it's much darker. There is also one badass summoning ritual in NOiSE.
Its drawings are absolutely amazing, by the way.
