I rather dislike the fact that it's become fashionable to bash the original series over the net while praising this one. Yeah, Brotherhood will be following the manga to the end. But keep in mind that:
1) The storyline of the first series was in no way bad; it had to end differently because the manga was still in an early phase.
2) Some of the additions made in the earlier parts actually improved on the manga by further developing side characters and making us care for them. Like expanding Trisha's story, showing how Scar began his alchemist-killing spree, the extra scenes with Marcoh et al.
3) This new series doesn't follow the manga word-to-word either. There are minor changes here and there, and some plot points are rushed, resulting in less time for character development.

I'M NO HERO, BELIEVE IT!
I agree with ya. as I probably have written before, I really like the fact that characters were balanced in the first series.
Even if there was too much drama, it's still MUCH more enjoyable too see antagonists that have some reasons behind their actions,
other than "Im pure evil! World dominashun!! mwahahaa!!!".
And also, 'good' characters that have some dark past.
First series started as a shounen but gradually was becoming more mature.
Also, it's extremely rare for anime to have more blood than original.
I appreciate that since usually it's manga content that's being toned down in anime.
This is the best thing ever.
Men... if only everyone completely deleted the first show and keep this one xD
So much better.... Cannot wait to get to the good stuff >w<
Uh. Am i like the only one who has grumbles about the new series ? As of now, i'm still pretty neutral to it.
For one, i didnt really like the ice alchemist start, i felt that it was pretty unnecessary.
Also, it seems like Bones is trying to blaze through the manga. Not that its a really bad thing, just that, somehow i like the fact that the old series expanded on some of the other characters too. The old one had a good pace going, which is pretty crucial in a series like FMA where the build up actually adds to the storyline.
This one seems too hasty for some reason. I know it's supposed to cater to both new and old viewers, but currently, it feel like it's more for the older viewers, skimming through the earlier material and all. Not to mention, the MASSIVE amount of spoilers that are hinted. Gahhh.
All in all, my defense for the old FMA is that while it might not have kept to the manga storyline, the characters were kept in-character and it followed the tone and the mood of the story well. Still, i'm waiting to see now the coming episodes for the new FMA will turn up. (:
Watched the latest episode. It looks like they're trying to finish off this series within 50 episodes which is sad. All the relevant plot points are covered but a few lighthearted moments from the manga were left out.

I was pumped up to watch these, so I d/led and watched all 9 (so far) in one day. And I didn't really like it. I'm glad that they are going to follow the manga with this one, and I could tell that they changed it up a bit to follow the manga. However, something is off in the animation. The characters don't seem to be drawn quite like the original series. I also noticed a bunch of times that they used animation loops during the episodes. Like during the fighting scene between Ed and Al, it was looped. And also, the animation just doesn't look as profressional as the first series. It's chock full of still images and just has a general lack in animation. Nothing looks that detailed, and the buildings and backgrounds look like painted panorama's. It reminds me of the change in animation between the first and second seasons of Gunslinger Girl. I don't know if Brotherhood is being developed by different people,or if they don't have a big budget, but it definitely feels like they have a minimal budget.
EDIT:I noticed that Episode 9 of Brotherhood is at the same point as Episode 20 of the original. That's a lot of fluff that was added to the first series. And hopefully next episode will veer off into the stuff that truly separates the manga and anime (like Xing)

Watched Episode 11. While it was nice to see the Rush valley arc animated I'm saddened by how much the show's speeding through the manga material. Many comedic moments from the manga got skipped, along with a couple of character development scenes. Bones should have aimed for 100 episodes instead of 50; there's so much potential for a series that's longer and of the same calibre as the original.

I agree with Witcher that many elements in the manga are being overlooked in order to fit everything in. That makes me sad cuz the main storyline is good but it is even better when u don't skip anything. If this series is supposed to follow all of the main storyline to its end and it will only last about a year. Doesnt that mean there is only another 10-12 chapters of FMA manga before its end? @_@ FMA is a monthly release.
Just watched this weeks episode FMA:Brotherhood 14. You know. even though its following the manga's storyline there are things i don't like about it. Somehow it just doesnt draw me in the way the manga did. I liked how in the manga things revolved around the Elric brothers. Often the homunculus would tail him and actually something else would catch their eye (like doctor Marco and when the fuerer finds Greed.) I mean, i'm just supposed to believe the fuerer decided to inspect the south and thought that some bar in the middle of the city was fishy and was a prime nesting ground for chimera's and greed? Still it was nice to see how that battle ended up. Why do they keep changing things out of sequence? even some of the fight scenes. It's irritating. if ur gonna copy the manga copy it right. Wow this became a bad rant.
So. i wonder if this thread is dead? is it even legal for me to post so many times in a row? but where else will i rant about FMA brotherhood episodes? Anyways. This episode was freaking awesome. It's sad how fast they are moving through things but at the same time it is exciting to see them follow the manga storyline. Brotherhood ep 15 introduces new characters that the original series never had. The characters from Xing. Ran fan is so cute! i have to say even though the drawing is different from the original the girls of FMA are still undeniably cute. I like how u can tell distinctly the difference between Amestrians and Xin...Xingians? Xinglings? lol! I'm sad that they skipped some really comedic moments. like when Barry the chopper hugs Hawkeye and goes all googly eyes for her and Mustang nearly burns him to a crisp for it. *sigh* oh well. Definately one of the best episodes.
