I just recently downloaded 1-51 of the anime episodes of FMA. I haven't read any of the manga yet.
I was wondering though if there are more episodes than the 51 I have? Does anyone know or does the anime just stop there?

There is a movie called Fullmetal Alchemist: Conqueror of Shamballa that takes place two years after the events of the TV series.
and the movie ends the story.
btw, the manga is not like the anime.
so if you're saying "i saw teh anime, i know evarything !1111lmao!" you're wrong.
there's ( btw) a special about the childhood of ed&al.
^Special in the anime? Weird I never saw it?
Anyway Tesh is right the manga and anime are really different especially considering the anime ended while the manga has not. I would not recommend the movie for FMA. It will leave you with the same unsatisfied feeling the ending of the anime left you with.
there was also a one hour long OVA, Fullmetal Alchemist: Reflections, released sometime in 2005.
*SPOILERS*
I have a question about the anime: does it end with Al in one dimension and Ed in another? If so how did their dad end up with ed?! Also, everyone is amazed that Ed brought back Al, but how did Al bring back Ed? I mean, its once thing to make and exchange and put Ed in a suit of armor, but he was put back in his body, how did that happen? The ending was very good and sad but a bit confusing to me...
I think you kinda answered yourself. Remember the number one rule about alchemy ? Equivalent exchange ? Well, that's it, in order to get Al's body back, something needed to be traded. In this case, Ed used his body - and soul for the matter - as the basis of trade.
Also, in the anime, the Gate is more like a passageway to another place than whatnot. Hence, after giving his body, Ed was stuck in the 'Gate' while Al came back to the world.
Pardon me if i'm not making sense, it's almost 4am in the morning here and i really should be getting to sleep now..
NOTE: this is entirely from the anime standpoint. NOT manga. Also possible SPOILERS.
Yes. Al remained in Amestris while Ed went to our "world."
From what i understand, in order to go from amestris to our world or vice versa, you just need enough "power" to transmute. i think this power has something to do with homunculi, but im not entirely sure. i'm assuming that then entire time hohenheim was gone, he was in our world. he opened the gateway connecting the two worlds with the philosopher's stone he created with Dante. so in the end, he again appeared in our world, he probably used the stone.
are you talking about the movie? the part when al opened the gateway to our world and allowed the thule society to enter amestris? if you are, remember he transmuted Envy and Wrath [Sensei's child]<--actually im not sure if its both. probably because they were homunculi, Al was able to open the gate...and then ed jumped on a plane and went through the gate...voila! back in amestris.
uh...i dont think ed was ever in a suit of armor.
if youre talking about Al, at the very end of the anime, remember how Al transmuted himself? because ed was "killed" right? al trasmunted himself/philosopher's stone to bring ed back because his soul was apparently "still in the gate" so he wasn't quite dead yet. ed then transmuted himself because Al's body/soul was also still within the gate. the price that ed paid was his arm and leg again, and i guess his location [he came to our world]. Al's price for being brought back was his memories of the last four [i think] years.
there are 4 OVAs: the one hour long; Reflections - OVA 5, OVA 1 - Chibi Party, OVA 2 - Kids, OVA 3 - Liveaction and OVA 4 - Alchemists vs. Homunculi
and of course there is the movie, i think that's all.
