When Will it End???
Sorry if there is a thread about this, I had a quick look around and didn't look like it. Otherwise, my apologies.
When do you think the Manga is going to end? Do you think it's getting on it's way there, or do you think it will keep going on for a while now? The anime was a reasonable length compared to some (like double the length of Cowboy Bebop and EVA).
I'm really not sure. I would love it to keep going for ages, but on the other hand, I want to know how it finishes. What do you think?
Discuss :D

I heard somewhere that the manga was only going to have 80 chapters.
I don't think the anime length really has much to do with the manga, though... They kinda went off on different trails ^_^;

i think it'll go on for a while. remember that not all of the homunculi have been revealed. and i don't think hiromu arakawa has any intention of slowing down.

I have never read the manga however I know a few people who has. I personally only watched the anime in both japanese and english versions along with the movie. Movie was excellent and one of the most epic anime-enders of all time. I may pick up the Manga one day, how is it so far? You seem upset that it keeps on going, is it becoming dull?

i hate the ending! the series and the movie!! it was not satisfying!!! my opinion hope no one is offended

The anime and movie ending was disappointing for me, it didn't have enough closure... :(

With the speed we are at, I don't think FMA will ever end :D
..and I hope the ending will be a little..less surprising with lamenesses and more sensible.

I had also heard that Arakawa Sensei wanted to end the manga around 80 chapters or so and if that's the case that still gives us another 2 years so I will be satisfied. There is only one humonculous left to reveal at this point and it does seem that things are begining to pick up the pace. Add into this the fact that Arakawa Sensei is now doing another manga (Jushin Enbu) every other month that is around 60 pages long each chapter. It sure seems to me that she is shooting for that 80 chapter deadline. But only time will tell and I'm on this ride until it's finished.

I doubt it will end in 80 chapters... From the pacing we've seen so far, it took a whole chapter JUST to lay the plot to ensnare General Raven - and we don't know the results of that yet. As others have said before, not all the homunculi are in the open yet, and resistance to Central is only starting to become cohesive (but mostly still disjointed - uniting the 4 points of a compass against the centre is hard work). The subplot of greed? The subplot of rentanjutsu and Scar? The subplot of Hohenheim? All of these things will eat up chapters like no tomorrow, not to mention fight scenes (the big ones occasionally spanned 3 chapters!).
With that in mind, I hope FMA manga continues for a long, long time and repairs the damage the anime has done to people who are disappointed in it. Oh yeah, and here's to Royai and EdxWin.

I also hope that it goes on for much more than 80 chapters. I love this manga it is one of my all time favorites. I am just concedeing the possibility that it might not go on much past that. And staring another manga now right sure doesn't look to great for the time going on longer. Not to mention she had to get chapter of Jushin Enbu out for the Dec 22nd release of Gangan powered and then notice that the February issue release on the 12th of January is 8 pages shorter than her normal for FMA. We shall have to watch and see if this trend continues. ^^
