Default Humunculi Disscusion: Seven Deadly Sins more represented in Anime or Manga?(spoilers)

I just caught up with the manga since my friend told me that it goes in a totally different direction then the anime. I love the anime, its one of my favs of all time.

And here is what came to thought, are the seven deadly sins more represented in the Anime or Manga?

For example, in the anime, all the humunculi were made because of the Humans trying to preform something that is taboo and is punished for it by the humunculi. They sinned by trying to bring somebody back and are paying for it when a humunculi is born or whatever. It all made sense to me. Its the reasons why they had the seven deadly sins as names.

Now in the Manga, They aren't created from your sins, but a God-like person Creates them (you know the "Old Man" Honemheim lookalike). And in my opinion they aren't really sins against humanity because Humanity didn't create or make the sins, that God-like person did.

Its very confusing but interesting and I really can't wait for Arakawa ties the deadly sins and the God-like person in.

I would like to know anybody elses opinions, because this is what I think that makes the Anime/Manga so interesting. Its not really the Alchemy that makes it so popular and most read/watched(to a point), but Philosophy/Religion that makes you want to sit down and think.

    The manga does it better.

In the manga the sins are given their names because of the emotion or attitude given. Like “Father” gave his Wrath and Anger to Bradley and you literally see it manifest. Like during Hughes’s funeral he was holding back his anger to kill Hughes daughter because all the noise she was making was pissing him off.

In the anime the name of the sins didn't have any real relation to anything. Though the people who made them may have sinned the name of the sin a person made had no connection to them. The anime sin reminds of the phrase “sin in name but not in nature.” They have the sin name but they don’t really show it.

yes, the manga represents the seven sins way more than the anime. like crow-kun said, in the anime, the sin name really has no correlation to anything. but in the manga they really do. in the manga, i think most of the sins have shown up: envy, gluttony, wrath, greed, lust. only pride and sloth have yet to be seen.

That's true, the manga does show how their 'names' came to be. I can't wait to see what pride and sloth are like. Somehow I keep picturing sloth as Ed's mom resurrected (from the anime), and although I know almost for sure that it isn't gonna be that way, I keep seeing that....xD

Sloth they have already shown once. Can't remember the chapter but Envy, Lust, and Greed were taking about him before Greed died. It then showed a picture of a large character chained up, and from what the three were saying he'd been that way working for a long time, thus attributing to the name sloth. I do find it unusual how in the anime King Bradley is Pride and not Wrath, because wrath suits him so much better in both.

hmm do you remember where they showed sloth? like which chapter?

also in the manga they've shown pride as a silhouette of a man(i think tis a man anywya), but didn't show any clear characteristics, just a generic man looking shadow, bradley was talking to him i think chapter 60 or something, it was after ed, ling and envy got out of gluttony's stomach

Sloth should be in the 30-39 chapter range. Look for Greed being crucified.

pride certainly has been shown as a silhouette...but what about hohenheim? i dont think he's one of the seven sins, but could he possibly be a homunculus?

Its possible. I've read some places that people were guessing that. Plus, he looks and sounds awfully suspicious doesn't he? xD
