Seems like most of you agree with the fact that the moment Hughes died was not that sad. It was the funeral that made people cry.-It's just the case with me...
Maybe it's because people have become inured to death so its not that gripping anymore.
Most likely you are right. After watching things like Elfen Lied where rivers of blood are common it's hard to feel something watching only one person dies.
I found the death of Hughes more shocking then sad I didnt really see it coming...
EDIT - maybe shocking was too powerful a word more like surprise its not like I screamed OH MY GOD HUGHES?! when he died...

Shocking, you say? I could agree to that. Its not that it was sad, I think, it was more that he was a well-liked character and people didn't want to see him go, or maybe his attitude that brightened the series a lot just disappeared...I don't know, now that I keep thinking about it, I liked Hughe's character and his attitude towards life, and I was sad that he had to die so early into the series (relatively), but its not like I didn't expect it or anything.
Anyways, I just don't think its the 'death' itself, but rather someone else...which I can't really pinpoint...or am I just thinking too much? xD
