    Default FMA anime vs...

So far, I've only been looking at the FMA manga. I've been pulled a little by the anime, but so far, reports are varied - ranging from "GREAT" to "...confusing..." Does anybody prefer the anime to the manga hands down? I'd rather get opinions from people who have taken in both (for a better comparison), but this IS teh intarwebs..

Wow I really like the anime though. I think you would too but of course, the plot is different.

I hate the anime period and after a crappy movie never again. I only watch for argumentative purposes now.

I hate the anime because it is so sad >_< the end made me cry like crazy, but in general I enjoyed it
I'm reading the manga hoping it isnt that sad xD

I can't choose. They really do differ so much, but they're both totally KICKASS. I thought the story in the anime was amazing! Kudos to the studio that actually took creative liberty and didn't fuck up.

It's hard to give an all out opinion of the manga just yet because it's not done. It could all go downhill from where it's at, or turn out to conclude even better than the anime did. I suppose it depends on what order you went in; I saw all the anime first, then started reading. Usually it's the other way around.

Damn I lost my post. Anyway, I decided to vote on my own poll after a few other people did first. Still, I admit my vote is automatically skewed. My FMA anime experience consists of 5 different episodes, all of which were viewed non sequentially and dubbed (instant -5) on YTV (-2). I also saw the Conqueror of Shambala dubbed in FRENCH (-10) and a crappy bootleg (-5). The ending left me going whaaaaa?

The anime bothers me because Ed always sounds so emo (I dunno about the subbed version) and Al is always semi-sniffling about something. I don't have to listen to annoying voice actors when I'm reading the manga. I dunno, I guess eventually I'll buckle down and watch the whole series from start to finish, cringing where appropriate.

The series is a lot more somber than the manga, yeah. Al is more mature in the manga, and Ed is more out of control and angry. Of course, the situations in the anime made for more sadness in the characters, so it wasn't for no reason.

I thought Funimation did a great job on the dub though. ^^

I simply would avoid the comparation because the manga isn't finished yet. It might start sucking anytime, specially at the ending.

Indeed...I can't choose between them. The anime, imo, did really great in keeping up an interesting story and action paced scenes while deterring from the original storyline of the manga. The manga is just plain sweet, much darker than its anime counterpart. SOMEONE PUT UP A CAN'T DECIDE CHOICE IN THE POLL!! >_>

I think it's hard to choose. The apparent that anime strayed a lot from the manga's plotline, starting about halfway through the series, but in its own sense, the anime was well done. There was a plot and things were explained. The movie was quite good, to me, that is, and I remember there was this question about Germany that I only knew because I watched the FMA movie, but yeah...anyways, I think the anime was good as an anime. It covered some important things and the animation was good.

The manga stands well on its own, as does the anime. I liked them both, so I'm undecided. XD
