Lelouch is basically Light stricken by humanity. and some more.
But the fact that Lelouch is the head of an organization, in contrast with Light, who workes alone, makes Lelouch a much more interesting character, facing more diverse moral problems.

Light's character was quite simple: some smart guy who can kill anyone as long as he has a name and a face. with the police after him. period.
Indeed, his plans rocked, he managed to control people/ shinigami based on their feelings and personality. But he himself does not have human "traits", or at least not that apparent. The only moment I felt he was actually human resulting in a mistake from his part was when he wasn't able to kill his sister. But that was all.

Lelouch, on the other hand, is a more complex character. His love for his sister, his friendship with suzaku and all those diverse relationships with different characters in the serie make him so much different than Light.

but the bad thing about geass is people doing things completely out of character (lelouch included) and that's a cheap way of getiing on with the plot imo.

I think that's the whole charm of the serie. Plus, the geass IS the plot. The whole story revolves around how people are changed because of it. AND how its own host changes because of it.

I guess we're totally different then. I usually prefer series with open endings.
Of course I wanted to know what had actually happened ;if ed and al would ever be reunited etc but even so, I regret seeing the movie.

Oh, I generally like open endings as well, but FMA's 'open ending' was a crapchute where the animators basically introduced the other side of the gates of hell as an alternate world at the last minute. It was very random and basically had a feel of Pandora's box to it.

if the movie is the real ending then it's not "nice", it's ....kinda mandatory.

Hopefully they won't do the next season of Geass about future but about..past....Also how the whole Japan v.s. Britannia went - especially the part how Todou defeated Britannia just this once.

The funny thing is, we already have a lot of information on that which just hasn't been translated yet. Some of the picture dramas, sound episodes, and dvd features cover stuff like a convo C2 had with Lelouch about her participation in the American revolution, etc.

True, but part of that is due to authors' portrayal of the power of people. In CG, Lelouch had to contend with people smarter than him, stronger than him, more influential than him, and with better acting skills than him throughout. Also, people considered 'inferior' to Lelouch still managed to have a realistic impact to the story. In Death Note, we had a long-drawn unreasonable battle of wits which apparently overcame everything else until the very end. Death Note really demeaned the intelligence/capability of average humans and that is one of the features I really hated about it.

I don't know if Lelouch was ever out of character. The thing is, Lelouch's character is based out of the tradition of Shakespearean heroes (Suzaku too). So, it isn't especially surprising when Lelouch manically switches from suicidal self-sabotage mode to getting motivated to kill everyone who wronged him within a 2-episode timeframe. There were still personality inconsistencies, but I blame that more on failing to deliver on promises from the 1st season than anything else.

Edit: I should really stop trying to address everything related to geass here...especially since it's a mafia thread. How long do you think it will take till Digi locks the thread?

Maybe, but not likely.

Sunrise announced that there will be more Geass, but made sure to refrain from commenting on the format of it. It's more likely to be a movie than a season.

Anyone here willing to host the next game? I want to actually play instead of hosting the game... hosting the game is quite boring... well except writing the stories part...

Maybe I should just write a whole list of stories then replace the names later lol.. if I ever host another game... I would need at least 15 players... 5 Mafia members, 2 Mafia Parties/Families.

Seer, Medic, Vigilante and BulletProof (immune to Mafia Attacks, still can't think of a name for that role)

The BulletProof townie can still be Lynched though.

The Thief Mafia is similar to the Prostitute.
