TMGX Day 4 - Innocent Blood
The last few days were beginning to wear on the Townies. The loss of the only investigator had dampened the spirits of all. The frenzy for revenge had clouded their judgement and resulted in the loss of mouse.
“He died to save me” thought Kniteowl, “I can’t let his death be in vain. We’ve already lost too many good people. Tonight I will swing things back in our favour.”
The townies drifted back to their houses aimlessly. Only one had purpose in his stride. Kniteowl rushed home and closed the door. He went to his closet and pulled out the bag that he’d sworn he’d never open again. He paused, breathed deeply and unzipped the bag. Emptying the contents onto the floor, Owl had a veritable cornucopia of weaponry. In another life, he’d been a killer. He’d turned his back on all that to make a life for himself in the peaceful town of StopTazmo. Maybe now his skills could be used for good.
His thoughts focussed on Henchy. How could the other townies not see what he was? Well, they weren’t as experienced as he was, Owl supposed. Reaching for the blade, he decided on the course of action. The mafia weren’t the only ones who could send messages.
Tucking his trusty knife into his pants, Owl headed out. Getting Henchy was as simple as knocking on a door. Henchy opened, a confused look on his face. “What the hell do you want?” He asked. A fist answered.
Poetic justice demanded that the same tree that originally held Razzy and Ura, would now hold Henchy. Owl tied his hands and looped the rope over a branch. It was hard work stringing a person up. Once the rope was anchored, he turned to his victim. Owl was glad to see that he was awake. The cloth in Henchy’s mouth would stifle the screams. That would take some of the fun out of it, but quieter was better.
It was hard work, but well worth it. Soon Owl was finished. This would be a message that the mafia couldn’t miss. He smiled to himself as he looked at his work. A soft crunch of grass behind him alerted him to the presence of another figure.
The Godfather stood dumbfounded, rooted to the spot, staring at the tree and the now limp body. This just wasn’t possible. Were the townies going to do everything for him? Perhaps this town had more to offer than he originally suspected. Quite a few people here could definitely go far in his organisation. Maybe he should put them on his pay role?
“Are you sure you want him gone, boss?” asked the Underling. “I mean, I really like his style”.
“Get rid of him,” drawled the Godfather. “We don’t need any heroes in our town”.
The Underling reached in to his jacket and felt for the gun holster. This kill would be strictly business – a deal between two professionals who specialised in death. The silencer muffled the shot, leaving just the quick outflow of air from the double tap. Owl collapsed, dead.
The mafia Underling shook his head. His was not a forgiving job. This person, lying dead in front of him had tried to get away from it all, but in the end the past always catches up to one.
