As the villagers performed their daily tasks - shopping and earning money and all - there were a few new sounds added to the typical noises of a bustling town. A whistling noise - and badly, I might add - came from a figure sitting on a nearby fold-up chair, stroking a content white cat around the ears.
As a townie approached, she looked up in surprise.
"You don't have instant noodles in this town, by any chance?" she asked.
The approaching townie shook his head. "Sorry," adonai apologized. "We don't."
She gave him an approving glance. "So you're the mayor now?"
adonai nodded. "I am. I suppose I'll have to redecorate the office tomorrow..."
"With pr0n!" someone called from the crowd. There was a sound of someone being punched.
"Anyway," adonai continued. "We have our first... ah, victim." The cat-owner looked up, amused. "After much discussion, and some... recent changes of mind, we'd like to lynch Kolox."
"Him," she murmured. "I suppose I can do that."
"Can we use the gallows," Vincent asked eagerly.
"Since when do we have gallows?" MGS asked him.
"Ah..." Digital_Eon stood up and placed the cat behind her. "I think I should take care of this." She motioned to Kolox. "In the church."
"The church?!" Jakko gasped. "But that's a holy place!"
"Yeah, well... kind of fitting for an undead, then?" She grinned. "Not that he necessarily is. This is just a game, after all."
Kolox smiled broadly at the crowd. "At least I'm going to be killed by a lady."
And she dragged him off to the church. Being a lady really had nothing to do with anything, though, as when the body-bearers entered late that night, there was... nothing left. Just nothing except a few fragments of clothing and blood splattered on the floor.
"Special weapon," the witness murmured, and would say nothing more. She did, however, point to two pairs of bicycle tracks on the floor... never mind that bicycles weren't a common sight in this world. "I think I saw an alien, though."
"I thought she was going to take care of this," El Gus murmured.
Yet it was an unusually quiet night...
In the morning, though, things were different.
"It nearly got me!"
MGS clung to the bulletin board, where two new messages had been scrawled hastily on flimsy paper and pinned there.
"I swear, it nearly did! I almost died - something was standing right over my bed-" he reached out and grabbed the shirt of the nearest person "-and it tried to kill me! There's slash marks in my bed - you can see them-"
"What's this?" adonai demanded, rushing into the town sqare. "Someone was almost murdered?! And on my first night, too..."
"Indeed." Yawning, the visitor made her way into the square. "So early..."
"Sir..." Siriusboon tapped the mayor on the shoulder to gain his attention. "There haven't been any bodies found this morning."
"That's a relief," adonai sighed. "No one was killed by the zombies tonight."
Digital_Eon settled back into her fold-out chair and nodded. "Time for another interesting day."
"Don't you ever do anything around here?!"
She gave an innocent look.
-----
kawaiikitsune walked up to the bulletin board and tugged on some pieces of paper fluttering in the wind. "Hey, there's something here," she called.
The papers read:
the major is a zombie!!!
-the psychics-----During your nightly rounds you come upon a dead body. It had been ravaged by zombies and was now unidentifiable. Examining the corpse you notice something in the hand, a neckerchief it is torn, but two letters are visible. The letters are o and i.
-NW
The white cat purred as Digital_Eon scratched his ears. "Nineteen townies left," she said quietly. "And five zombies, too... let's hope these townspeople get their act together soon."
