The Mafia Game Number Eight: Day 1
(I love writing stories. Read it.)
The bloody corpse lying on the steps of the church did not come as a surprise anymore.
As be0wulf and mystic_guard_sinoel covered the body in a white sheet and pulled it away, there wasn't even a whisper from the crowd going about its daily business. Every night, a body appeared in a different location - although the church was a favourite - and every day, it would be taken away under a white sheet, occasionally stained with red where the blood hadn't fully dried.
Yet there was still fear. Not a night passed when the townspeople lay awake in their beds, waiting for the slightest possibility of a shadow above them, and then pain and the inevitable death. Now, only thirty villagers remained... and they knew that the only question was how many days would pass before they too felt death.
It was time, adonai decided, for something to happen. Passing through the streets full of posters declaring the upcoming election, he finally reached the home of the current mayor - reign only lasting a few more days. He knocked, but found the door open. Inside, Jakko was staring at the reports of the causes of death, head in hands, and looking quite weary.
"We can't let this go on," adonai said quietly. Jakko looked up to see the familiar face and nodded.
"Too many deaths," he agreed. "But what can we do?"
"Them. We can call them-" adonai began, but Jakko was already shaking his head.
"We don't have that kind of money! This village is just too poor."
adonai nodded, but continued to press the soon-to-be-ex-mayor for his plan. "We could just call them - maybe they have a discount, or some alternative-"
"You don't think we can get rid of this problem on our own?" But Jakko already knew the answer, and adonai was already shaking his head. "Right, I guess we'll just have to call them."
"Thanks," adonai said quietly.
"It's for the town," Jakko responded. "I'll send out a notice tonight."
And five days later, a twenty-sixth person entered the town.
StealDragon, having a kind of sixth sense for things involving breasts, was the first to notice. He immediately told everyone he knew - "She's here." At least, he thought it was a female; wouldn't MojoMunkeez have noticed if it was a male? He knew that kind of thing well-
ah, and this visitor is sure to be receiving some kind of glare right now. Looking no different from any other townie, she walked straight through the town and finally found herself in the centre of the town square. She sat down, and promptly began to read a novel... she must've bought it in the square.
"Ah, excuse me." Jakko cleared his throat. "You must be from..."
"Oh!" She nodded. "Yeah, you sent for us - but you're broke - not even enough money to buy a clock - no wait, I mean send for one of us to solve your problem - well, you know what I mean." The visitor paused, then walked over to him. "You're the mayor, right?"
"Term ends tomorrow," he agreed.
"Well, then... It isn't really right to leave so many people to die," she mused. "I'm a human too, after all. It doesn't feel right. But you're a poor village... so!" she exclaimed, turning to everyone and grinning, "I'll let you play a game."
There were excited and bewildered murmurs from the townspeople - a game? For their lives?
"You..." She began to stroll around the crowd. "...tell me who you want to kill at sunset every day." At the shocked looks, she corrected herself. "I don't mean any townies! I meant them. The zombies."
"Pardon, but..." kaom stepped forward. "What are these zombies."
"Well, exactly what they say they are, aren't they?" When no one seemed to understand, her eyes widened in surprise. "Oh! Right! I didn't explain about this, now, did I - well, there are five zombies hiding among you. They've taken the skins of the humans they've killed, so you can't tell who they are by just looking at them."
"Then how do you know there are five of them?" El Gus asked, suspicious. A few others nodded.
"...I can see them. And don't ask why," she added quickly, "because that's just the way things work in stories like these and manga and all. In fact, I know exactly who they are right now... but I can't kill them, because you can't pay me, and I can't tell you, because that wouldn't be within the rules of the game.
"But you're lucky," she continued. "You've got one person here who can protect against that kind of thing. Wonderful person." She smiled, and turned back to the middle of the square. "And there are two of you who can ask about the identity of one villager each night."
"And we're supposed to find the zombies and lynch them, every sunset?" adonai asked quietly. When he'd asked for help, he hadn't expected this...
"That's right." A mischevious look sparkled in her eyes. "You've got thirty-six hours."
And the game began.
-----
With a resigned smile, Jakko left the mayor's office for the last time that morning. It was time for elections, and the discovery of zombies in the town would make for an exciting day...
------
I'm just going to tell you right now that you can't take anything I say in that story as fact. Don't read anything into it. You'll find out who died every night, and how, but aside from that, it's meant to be entertainment and nothing else.
...a cookie if you figure out what manga I was thinking of. :3
Oh! Bold your zombie votes and underline your mayor votes. You're voting only on the first day for the mayor, whose vote counts as two, and whose life allows the counter (because I'm mean enough to stop telling you when a zombie dies as soon as chaos begins to rule).
Got that?~ I didn't miss anything, did I?

The game begins!
Is it D.Gray-Man Digi?
-
Apparently I should go read Claymore...
And if I remembered correctly from the other thread, it seems that I'm unfortunately not a zombie this game.

Extrasensory boob perception ftw...
I like to die with the songs I love stuck in my head. I hope to make the most of these hollow bones we become.
I raise a toast to the the souls that sang all along. I've been gathering friends to just to make some sounds,
before the ship goes down, I've been making amends by making the rounds before the whole world ends

Was this that part in Claymore, where the mayor was a bad guy, trying to get the girl(forgot her name) to come close to pick up the money, so he could attack her?
-
umm...who's a good spokesperson....
-
Get on irc people!
I'm probably gonna take this back later but, mystic_guard_sinoel

How troublesome...
Ok let me get this straight. Right now we're voting for a mayor? What if we vote a zombie into mayor position? Does that make us ske-rewed?
-
Hmm I think Spurgu would be fun and that Jakko is looking at my head funny, though that might be anger from the last game.
