SLOWWWW, and going and going...

I used to love going to stoptazmo.com to just browsing and download manga. However, for the past few months now, downloading 1 chapter of any manga takes about 20-30 minutes, and I am using a 3Mbps line. 4M chapter for 30 mins, oh please. It's just not worth it anymore. With the increase in space for new additional manga series, I had hoped that it would be the same for the speed. Oh well, I guess stoptazmo is now intended for dial-up users who are used to waiting in line. No offense, dial-up guys, but my days of waiting are over. Good luck stoptazmo, I am switching to torrent d/l.

and that's one less leacher to clog up the servers....

I don't see why anyone needs to complain about the speed, we get it free and it allows us to catch up on the forums and such.

On the subject of speed (which doesn't bother me, I actually get the downloads pretty fast, I can downlo0ad a chapter in about 5-15 mins), wouldn't it be a good idea to just ban every leech (i.e. everyone with 0 posts)? Or maybe ban every account with 5 or less posts.

Actually, since I'm on the topic of banning people, if I was admin, I would not allow people to download until they had made 50 (maybe even 100) posts, like we do/did on Otaku Heaven. 'cos lets face it, it's not hard to get 50 or even 100 posts, however it would deter any potential leech who is too lazy or too much of a theiving ass hole to contribute.
BTW, the reason it's so high is to stop people from spaming to get the post count, the theory is that the higher the bar, the less people who can be arsed to spam so many posts, and the higher the ratio of people who want to contribute.
Hopefully that should increase the speed for the people who actually deserve it.

Anyway, weather something like that is done or not, something deffinitely needs to be done about the leeching problem. We've got 113,000 members on this site, and apparently there are about 47,000 active members, but this includes people who posted maybe once or twice in the download request section and then went back to leeching. i reckon that there are less than 5,000 regular members here. This would mean that a stagering 95.6% of the site's members are leeches who suck up the band width, which is unfair for those of us who are actually part of the community. And it's not just unfair to the regulars, it's also extremely unfair to Kevin who has to fork out a lot of money for bandwidth only to see said bandwidth get raped and shit on by 100,000+ thieves who abuse this site and the service that it provides.

At any given time there's 300 members online. 300 X 50 post minimum = 15,000 posts. shitz... that's gonna be a lot of spam. =P

So just have more mods, I know forums with less than 20,000 members yet twice as many mods as this site; besides, the high requirement should deter most of the lazy spammers.

It takes me 1-2 hours to download a manga chapter - half an hour or maybe 15 minutes if I choose a good time. I use IRC now, which makes life easier, but I agree that we have too many inactive leechers.

I know a forum with about 30 mods and 4000 members - all with powers for the entire site. A bit crazy, but they don't even have the rules we do here. You can double-post, have GIANT sigs (like half the page. Literally.) and... lots of stuff.

I don't know about the post idea unless there's a stricter policy for spam - like more banning and all - but I do think there should be some kind of restriction - or perhaps even hosting a few less manga...?

If members learned to use IRC it would make life easier for everyone, though.

Anyway, complaining about the speed is just nasty, but thank god we have one less annoying leecher. (I've stopped downloading except to introduce myself to new manga. I feel great about myself now.)

actually since the transformation to VBulletin ive only seen us at less than 400 members online ONCE ... which thru youre math is a testament to the fact we need more mods...

I think Kevin should clean up all accounts with less than 50 posts and do that every month.....
