Thread: Suggestion: Personal Manga List

I normally don't use much of StopTazmo features and just now noticed things available for customizations. That gave me an idea: what if the user account info is expanded to include the user's personal manga list? Furthermore, the manga list includes genre and a star rating with 5 being a must read. Of course, this feature is searchable for other users.

This is a good way to compare personal tastes and get a manga recommendation from those with a similar taste, whose manga list can be tracked just like a buddy list. Or is it too hard to implement?

This is a very good idea, we got a lot of work to do for the next week or so, but maybe this is something we might be able to add.

another idea:

often times I am unable to get onto stoptazmo.com during school hours, so maybe for the personalized manga list you could like e-mail any updates to those manga to our e-mail address(like our top five favorite manga, otherwise the e-mail would be to long), so we'd instantly know what manga we like has been updated...

Not that there is anything wrong with your suggestion, but what I was thinking is a list of manga a user reads or collects, not an update system. Think of it as a playlist of someone's mp3 collection.

sorry my bad, but your idea would do wonders for people who have friends with the same manga preferences here. But in the manga listings for everyone would it give a background of the story like most manga here? I mean like for finding a new manga a friend likes in a genre you like but unsure what exactly it is about?

Honestly, I haven't given it a deep thought of what it should have beyond a genre and a rating system because Kevin said "might be able to implement" which means it is not definitely decided yet. Since you asked it, however, I think that such extra information is not necessary because it is specific to the manga and synopses are available and easily found on the web and are probably discussed on the forum already. Having synopses also clutter the list and not everyone will write them. It will probably create a headache for the admin to maintain.

OTOH, comments on why you think a manga is a must-read or is a don't-bother may be useful. Or for mangas not available here, an information where you downloaded them (IRC/BT/HTTP/eMule). If you and anyone else have an idea, feel free to jump in.
