Thread: Too slow

Currently i've just started to read Gantz and i'm downloading from mirror 4. Well, to download from mirror 4, i have to log in first... thats all fine. But the speed and the download restriction is really annoying. At a max speed of 10 kb/s, downloading even only 3 chapters takes ages. It literally take hours to get through decent length of plotlines. (Especially Gantz loves to give cliffhangers at the end of each chapter)

Isnt it possible to remove the speed restriction, or at least not make it so low? Normally at this rate, i'd have finished reading the 3 chapters that's finished downloading... and still have to wait quite a while for the new 3 chapters to finish downloading. And the wait takes quite a while too.. which is quite a waste of time.

Now, i wouldnt mind waiting if it's something like a torrent, whereby i can just wait slowly and let it finish downloading and read everything when it's complete. But even this option is impossible, as each chapter has to be downloaded individually and manually. Please do something about this. I'm going crazy at this pace. I've spent too many hours waiting compared to the reading.

We have Mirror 5 using FTP to limit download speeds and make sure the server's load does not get too high.

Tonight I hope to have the same on Mirror 4, we have been having some issues that should be resolved tonight.

Then the speed will be limited to like 30kb/s, so one person is not using all of the bandwidth.

but why do you dl 3 chapters at once? If i dled 3 chapters at once i'd slow down to 10 KB/sec too, really, the way to go is 1 chap dl's read while dling, its better this way MUCH

Thanks a lot Kevin. 30 kb/s Would make a much MUCH better speed. And to answer your question francoskiyoo, i'm downloading 3 at a time, because that is the max no. of simultaneous dl allowed. Before i've dl-ed gantz, in the past it was allowed to have 8 simultaneous downloads and there's no speed restrictions too. So my habit was to download as much as possible and as quickly as i can, so that i can finish downloading everything and just enjoy reading the manga. Those times were nice and everything was done at a good pace.

But right now i guess it's impossible because of how large the site has gotten. And everyone wants a share of the limited bandwidth. Sigh.
