That In regards to the "problem with viewing files" thread in the help section:

So, first a mod insults a member for asking a question in the help section, then he gets accused of not reading the rules when he did, and then he gets BANNED for no apparent reason other then actually sticking up for himself? Oh, and on top of that, no one asnwered his damn question. Nice site guys, real professional.

Whats with the shitty treatment for asking a question? Heaven forbid someone use the help forum. It doesn't matter if theres rules already written, the help section is there for people who still don't understand or if theres a misunderstanding. Rather then, I dont know, someone helping him all he got was a shitty attitude from people who's jobs are to assist.

Anyway, my suggestion is to get a better attitude and treat your members with respect and fairness. Or maybe thats too much to ask.

Well, is it too much to ask that someone read the rules and respond in the proper way? I'm not a mod of the Help Section, but I do help there sometimes and I've even posted help requests there before. It takes all of one minute to read the rules and post in the proper format.

And honestly, I believe it shows blatant disrespect for Kane, not to mention the mods of Help, to not bother with that.

I'd just like it if members could actually do something themselves rather than have the mods spoon-feed it to them every single time. Or maybe that's too much to ask.

I'm not sure what'd you expect if people break the rules, and if this person has read the rules, then they'd know that there is a certain format to follow. So unless that person followed that format and still got banned, then I see your point, but I'm pretty they didn't.

and I'd actually disagree about mods not being nice since a lot of the mods have been more lenient lately.

Actually that was nicer then I expected.

Now, I just read through the rules and I saw nothing that was related to that users question, which was why the files were out of order. Did I miss something?

The answer to his question was simply "you have to sort them by name" which was not in the rules, I have no idea why that wasnt the responce given to him in the first place.

So according to you the rules can be ignored, that kinda defeats the point of having rules.
If you had actually read the help section rules, you would know why we ask for people to post in a certain way, but of course you didn't, so you don't know.

Okay, I guess I'm just going to have to say it: posting format. There is a posting format that is clearly outlined in the Help Section rules, and very few people actually follow it. That's why mods don't answer those questions. Did the person really bother to look, if they didn't use the format? In addition to this, sometimes the problem can be solved very simply, and if the correct format is used, this can be identified. There's a reason that a format exists, and it's so that the mods and admin can easily identify the problem, whatever it is.

I have to admit that, being at the bottom of the rules, people might miss it - although that's not much of an excuse. And vphamv is actually right - there is more leniency nowadays (possibly due to mod inactivity, except on my part). There used to be much more flaming.

Maybe he did read the rules, and just decided he is better than everyone else and they don't apply to him, I really don't know, but the moderators and I have a very short patience for people like that, and he should be banned, so I thank whoever banned him for taking care of that for me.

If he followed the rules, maybe things would have turned out differently for him.

The shitty treatment is not because he asked a question, it's because of hundreds of people posting and not following the rules. No one gets paid here and today we are even taking down the donation option. We are not under any obligation to help anyone.

I do understand your point, that we should take the high road in situations like this, I will ask the moderators in the future to not even respond to the people who decide they don't need to follow our rules, perhaps that would be better.

Im gonna have to agree with both the Mods and Buruku here. It IS clearly stated that if you dont follow the rules, you will be banned. Do I find that particularly harsh? Yes, yes I do but Im not the admin of this site, not my call.

I help mod forums for a guild for a game I play, and it is clearly stated in a post how EXACTLY to post your application into the guild. Like you and I both know, it is almost never followed. Annoying, yes, but only if you let it get to you.

Instead of kindly telling the person that you have a set way to post and describe his problem, and where to find it, he was instantly attacked and insulted. I ALWAYS direct the person where to go and how to do it and they ALWAYS respond with the proper format. I've never had someone get upset, angry, mad, sad or anything and it takes two seconds out of my time to show him where to go. Two seconds for a total of, say you get 100 wrong posts a day, would still only take you 2 minutes to do. (Obviously its going to be a tad bit longer that 2 seconds, so you can say 2-4 seconds. Really, how long would it take to say "Please read the rules/guide in the Help section to show you how to redo your post in the proper format. Thank you") If he argues, give the guy a chance if you're nice and repeat yourself and if still you get nothing but bad results from him (And I mean attitude, posting the format a little wrong isnt bad results, its a human mistake) then, by your set rules, ban away.

Now, to cover my ass before you jump on it with your rebutle. "Did you even read the rules?" and "You clearly didnt read the rules" and "Dont tell me you read the rules, you obviously didnt" and all such comments are NOT a way to direct a person to actually read them and repost. Those are flat out insulting comments as you are insinuating that he not only did it wrong, but he is clearly not smart enough to have actually read them. I know he stated he read them, maybe he did maybe he didnt (I know I missed the posting guide the first time I read them) you could still respond in the same way I've already demonstrated.

Normally I'm a pretty shy kinda guy, I don't really post much unless something gives me a really strong desire or feeling to, like this has and please understand, Im not trying to insult or attack you or ANYTHING like that. I love this site and all it has to offer, I'm just giving a suggestion based on my own experience in the exact same field. I also dont get paid or anything and it is all me taking time out of my life just like you, but, and I mean this in a sincere way, if you hate it that much, and you're not willing to be pleasant or you dont feel its your obligation to 'spoon-feed' members, then why offer the service of help? Honestly, thats the life of being a mod. Dealing with all the crap and whining and complaining and all that. Yeah, it sucks, but there are easy, nice ways to go about it.

To sum up, I understand your expectations for people to use a proper format as I also expect that. I also know that not everyone is going to bother to read, and if they do, sometimes they screw it up. Direct first, ban second if need be. This truly is constructive critisim on my part, and if for some reason you now hate me, or think Im stupid, or dont agree with me at all, well, sorry? I wont be surprised if one of you decide to ridicule what I've stated in a response, or attempt to make me look wrong and stupid, or even ban me. I do hope though you're better men and women than that though.

I hope you take the advice I've offered to heart, you all seem like wonderful people to me.

You did not even bother to read the rules. Why did you think your post would have been done correctly?

This is just one of the reasons why we ban people so quickly. There are too many lazy people here who don't want to spend 30 seconds to do something as asked.
