i don't know if this is bannable material.

when we download, we click on 2 links max. and download.

maybe, at convenience, when enough of the manga has been hosted, a link could be made, one saying -
example - shaman king 1-130 - download. which one could just put to download and breathe easy.
then one could download the new chapters as we do now anyways, or wait till the next pack is made.

just suggesting. if this has been posted and banged before, im sorry.
if it is'nt possible and someone's fusing at me for bringing it up im sorry.
just if this was possible, things would be WAY smoother.
if packs were possible from time to time.

hmm ... this might be possible to do. I am just not sure how many people would actually use it.

I think it would be pretty widely used, actually, if it weren't for the issue of slow speeds. Back when I downloaded from here a lot (read: until I discovered #lurk), I'd often try new series, which I'm sure many others are doing - and ultimately, this is made for them, in a sense. I think it's a good idea.

Although, I am afraid of the idea a little. Say, 130 chapters, 4mb apiece, for example? That is a huge chunk to download, even after the servers were upgraded. Even 20-30 chapters would take a long time. It would probably take a long time to download, and when you factor in all the other people doing the same thing, it could make a great strain on the servers, especially at peak times. Would it be possible to disable such a large batch of files during the average peak download times at ST, if it became a problem?

Edit: Or maybe you could set a limit on the number of files over, for example, 15 mb, that could be downloaded at one time by all users. Like, say 100 such downloads are only allowed site-wide at any given time? That could if congestion and back-up became a problem, help, I think.Then again, that is only if you decide to do this, and if it becomes a problem which would probably only happen on certain days(weekends and holidays most likely) and then only at certain times of those days. A lot of ifs, so feel free to disregard my post if you want. =p

It would have to be in batches of like 25 chapters at a time or something. On another note, speeds are a lot better right? We should be able to pull this off.

Speeds are indeed a lot better, i for one am satisfied with the speeds of newer chapters. I haven't tried an older one in a while.

Does sound like a good idea. Hope to see it happen.

wasnt this idea bought up already (coulda swore it came up with the Torrent idea), but nah its a good idea because it took me a good three days last year to get One Piece from the beginning all the way into the 300s. i guess it would work if it was only availiable for like the major series like Bleach, Shaman King, Naruto, Gantz (which id start reading if it was available for chunk download), etc

i hope this happens. it would be quite useful and it could draw in a whole new crowd to the site although im not sure that second thing is a good thing >_>

Um... isn't that "assuming" everyone has a decent internet connection, there are some from other parts of the world who doesn't have an awesome internet connection or are paying a visit to the nearest internet cafe or something and downloads from there, so if the batchs are too "large" they might be disconnected or something in the middle of the download, or run into other troubles.

I think the idea of batches sounds cool though.

ps: btw I got an okay speed, so don't think I'm talking about myself

well then theyd probably have to do it the old fashioned way and wait and hope for the best. but i think the vast majority of the people dling from here have a fast if not stable connection so even with dialup in the jungles of the Federated States of Micronesia given the time alotted for the download they should be able to make it, and if not the just dont dl at peak times.

all i was suggesting was that both options be there, the bulk download link, and the normal one anyways, since the scans are out 2-3 volumes at a time.
so all initial volumes can be given as a pack as well
