Possible expansion of the forums?

Hey Kane, I wanted to ask you. Would it be possible to add more subforums and is this something you would be willing to do? Now this may seem silly and unnecessary, and even as I type this I doubt my own words, but with the forum increasing in size and the active community growing, we could always invest in that growth and channel it into different things. I agree that it's not particularly easy to do that, nor is it really something that needs to be done. But it is an excellent opportunity to cache in on the human resources we have. There are some fairly talented people on these boards, so I was wondering if it would be possible to give them two subforums. One dedicated to artistic work, things they draw by hand via any medium, things they draw using their computers, photoshop work they do, photography, and so on. Another dedicated to writing, short stories, series, fanfiction, and so on. Again this isn't really something I'd expect to see implimented on a forum dedicated to manga downloads and spreading awareness about someone running an internet scam, but we have branched out before and I believe that it would be within our abilities to do so again. I don't know what sort of reception these subforums would garner from our community, but I do believe that they have potential here, judging by the members of these boards.

Nice ideas Cold-NiTe, sounds like some good possibilities.

At the same time I would like to suggest that there is constructed/made a subforum for the direct connect hub (didnt see that one coming did you).

Yes i know that there isnt that many people on the hub, but i hope that we can change that. And the users that we have now, could use a place a to throw messages at each other across timezones. And it would be a logical place to trade info on the hub, rules, guides, stuff like that.

Just let me know the exact name of new sub sections, and a description and if you think they need to be placed in a new category or not.

Design forums? Sounds interesting. Most of the other boards I frequent have something of the sort. Usually named something along the lines of "Design" or "Creative works".

After speaking with the other members of the board, most of them would prefer that these subforums be merged to increase it's usage. We're deciding on names now. I'll ask them to submit some nominations and make their choice.

Pardon me for the double posting, but I had to make sure it was seen that there was a new reply to the thread.

After consulting the other members, they seem to like the idea and the name they put forward with the best results was "Creative Works" for the new section.

As far as a description goes, if you need one I'd say something like;

Plan and design your own storyline, character or artwork while recieving feedback and critiques from other members.

Would this go under a new section? Or which of the current sections would it go under, for example "Main", "General", "Series Chat" ...?

Yeah it seems that General would be the best place for it in order to achieve the greatest level of growth and usage.

I hate bumping these threads like this. But some people have come forth to moderate the section and of them was someone who was already a moderator, and between the two of us I think we can provide content and handle the section. So I'd like to suggest letting tetnubis and myself moderate the new subforum.
