Who wouldn't look badass, carrying Erza like that *gg*
Just kidding. You are absolutely right. He has reached a new level of badassness
"For Feanor was made the mightiest in all parts of body and mind, in valour, in endurance, in beauty, in understanding, in skill, in strength and subtlety alike, of all the Children of Illuvatar, and a bright flame was in him"
Natsu hasn't look badass at all. isn't it always the same thing? fire, fire and more fire? the most ridiculous part was in the previous arc, when Erza said "Natsu would show his true potential", yet in true fashion, it was more of the same. Dunno, me dont like Fairy Tail, it is a One Piece rippoff and Natsu is doing a bad "Luffy" immitation. The magic component of it is great but Natsu has no flexibility as a character and his magic is more of the same, not to mention predictability of the plot which makes it even less interesting.
Mah bad if i come off like a basher but this is the truth. It's such a disappointment when you a great idea being executed in such a terrible fashion.
^Well, then don´t read it.Not every manga has to be a masterpiece like OP (and I´m serious here,OP is coool). I personally like FT even if those things you said are true - I just read it and take it how it is lol (there is enough other manga with balanced things and flexible chars etc.....)
I can't agree with you. People tend to say that because he uses the same drawing style as Oda, so people see it as a One Piece rip-off.
But if you look at it this way you could also say that Ruffy always does the same (stretching). That is his style, so of course he'll use it. Just like gray is an ice mage and Zorro uses swords. That's just how it is.
The manga is still relatively young and there is a lot of room (and time) for charcter development andimprovement, but it clearly has a lot of potential.
And I don't think it's that predictable either. You know that in the end the good guys will win, Natsu will finish the bad guy and nobody will die, but the same can be said about One Piece.
Sure, it's more predictable than One Piece and storywise not as deep, but if you compare any manga to One Piece in any aspect, it'll lose (that's just not fair). And why compare it to one Piece at all? The only thing they have in common is the drawing style and the fact that both are adventure mangas. Why not compare it to another manga about magic?
"For Feanor was made the mightiest in all parts of body and mind, in valour, in endurance, in beauty, in understanding, in skill, in strength and subtlety alike, of all the Children of Illuvatar, and a bright flame was in him"
First off, you dont have to get so defensive. And no, i do not follow OP anymore because I've outgrown it. 2nd, you can't compare gray with Natsu, as a matter of fact, his magic is more diverse than Natsu's even if they have the same character, their diversity in magic favors gray.
I know it's a young manga, but tell me how it can grow further?? Natsu does the same thing over and over again, the only difference maybe that he says something different. The intensity on the fire is the same. The most ridiculous thing was when Erza kept saying "Natsu's true potential" over and over again. While it was the same Natsu that was in ch 1.
The only reason I use to like OP(when i used to follow it) was because of its story, the comedy, its progression and the overall map. Fairy Tail lacks all those. Even Rave, this mangaka;s previous work was better on all aspects.
*with that said, i will not comment on this manga on here anymore. I understand some of you are diehards so things might be a little more personal.
I'm no die hard. I just enjoy reading it, like I do with a hundred more series. Maybe my expactions are not as high as yours *gg*. But then again if you have outgrown One Piece there can't be many mangas left to enjoy (so I'll just stay as I am).
And I was by no means defensive. I just replied to you. You stated your opinion and I did the same.
I compared them in a way that each has his own style. Gray uses only ice and Natsu fire. But while until now Natsu is more about close range, fire has a lot of potential. He could get a training arc, meet his dragon and learn more from him and get more variety in the future. He could learn to do all kinds of things with fire.
To me that would mean growth and it can be done very easily.
I haven't read Rave yet so I don't know, but if he did better there that means he can do better again (maybe I'm more of an optimist).
But even if it would stay like it is now, to me the action, the art, the comedy and the story is all fine. Not One Piece, but still enjoyable.
If you don't think that way it's sad, but I guess you have your own mangas that you enjoy, so it's all good. I won't try to change your mind.
And before you think I'm being defensiv again, think about it that way. I'm just giving the people that maybe haven't read this manga yet a second opinion *gg*
"For Feanor was made the mightiest in all parts of body and mind, in valour, in endurance, in beauty, in understanding, in skill, in strength and subtlety alike, of all the Children of Illuvatar, and a bright flame was in him"
I'll read it too, when I get around to it. At least it's on my list of mangas I read and/or want to check out.
I just read Togari yesterday and besides the end I also liked that very much.
