    Please. Those are moves too.

I play both tennis and American football and have read both manga--they are equally unrealistic.

Marco Antonio Barrera, Manny Pacquiao, and Erik Morales all have lifted opponents of the same weight class. They aren't the only ones as well.

The Dempsy Roll is a real signature move as well. Mike Tyson used it to the same effect Ippo does in that manga when he was in his prime--it's depicted with exaggeration of course, like every other sports manga, but it's not as unrealistic as some of the moves in both ES21 and POT.
Haha...You are right...I completely forgot about those players. But at least, eyeshield 21 doesn't have the players go into a trance (muga) and overwhelm the opponenets.

What I meant by "not being able to lift players" was that for a japanese boxer, it's impossible. I know Dempsy Roll was a real move. What I was trying to point out was that the art was unrealistic.

Don't want to discuss to much. It's a Manga so realism is in second place here.
But I don't think the "Everest-Pass" is unrealistic, it's just a dumb misleading name for a high pass and this pass is only "undefendable" (for most of the other teams), because the other teams do not have players which are as big as Sakuraba and Takami.

Captain Tsubasa would be somewhere in the middle I guess? lol. For those that DO do boxing or in fact those who plain old have tried losing weight... Takamura's weight loss regime is IDIOTIC. It is plain old impossible to drop... how much does he go down, from Heavy to Middle? In what time period, 2 months? Take in mind that he's not exactly bloated with fat when he's in his training weight. So, he's lost basically water? And... he GAINS IT ALL BACK between his weigh in and the match starting through rehydrating. WTFBBQSAUCE. That's as bad as Muga IMHO. Certainly equal to just the ability to "copy your opponents moves" or to "concentrate you strength in one arm and hit the ball really hard"

yo I have read some of all of these (even tsubasa) and I think you guys are getting off point. realism doesn't mean that it's better. I mean If you want to see realism go watch the real thing. you're not going to get more real than that.

Well the Everest Pass gives off an unrealistic feel to it because of the fact that it is "undefendable" even though there are many more variables than height. Why can't you press the receiver off the line? Why can't you clip the receiver after the catch? Why can't you clog the route? Why can the quarterback just bullet the pass down the field while in real life you would have to throw a touch pass?

If the manga doesn't depict a sport, then it's just another fantasy one. Sports manga are supposed depict the actual sport. There is a fine line between a sports manga and a fantasy one. The better ones don't have to rely on over-exaggerated techniques and moves to move the story along anyhow.

Surprise! The weight of the human body is on average 83% from water. That means you can lose up to 83% of your weight just by drying yourself completely out.

Dropping from light heavyweight to middleweight is a 10-15 pound drop.

It's not as obscure as you think. Oscar Larios has fought in five weight classes. Erik Morales was able to win championship belts in four different weight classes. Hell, even away from boxing, Hydroxy cut works why? It seeps the excess water in your body. Even body builders limit their water intake before an exhibition so that their muscles are more defined for judges to see.

Obviously you don't know much about it, but it is actually quite realistic. The unrealistic part about it was how they portrayed Takamura's skin to be completely and over-exaggeratedly dry.

    Join the movement today.

exactly, if you atleast know the basics of football then you can see that its really fake. honestly, how can anyone say that it isnt? but its still a pretty good read.

captain tsubasa gets more and more unrealistic as it goes on. it was fine at first with just the bicycle kick. then the destructiveness and speed of a shot gets insane. the dude tore a huge tree in half with his shot. people lift other people so they could have mid-air battles.

its true that eyeshield has someun realistic but I can see some realistic.I play football(though slightly different)Almost of the plays they show you are real ones as i sometimes used them to refresh my mind....though there is only some tecniques that are real.
I understand that many players are fully fiction....i would say the whole thing in average is in middle to fiction section
