    Default 216 match

well i really liked the latest chapter. and for those of you who dont like spoilers leave now. ok my favorite part was when hiruma poped up in front of sakuraba. you got to wonder how things will change in the game. after all if the whole thing goes like this deimon will lose and from the story if they were to play really good then lose late in the game they probably would have lost against the nagas. so now the score is 6 - 3 with deimon trailing. i do wonder if there is any way that kurita can be used against sakuraba. although sena just grabbing his arms like he did with homer before he could make a pass.

The only way you can use kurita against the Pass is either Sacking Takami or Blocking his Passes. Matching him up with Sakuaraba would be useless and just stupid.

    *Spoileralert*

I know, it's a Manga, but Sakurabas Catch was a bit overdone. He's to high in Air to touch the ground in Bounds after the Catch.

I bet you Kurita will block Sakuraba.

Sena: Why dont we let Kurita block Sakuraba?

    The idiots: Yes!

The non-idiots: No way, to compare with speed, it will be freaking useless.

Hiruma: Hmm........... yes, Sena, you are brilliant (evil laugh)

    Sena: Err... =_;;

    Ya-ha!

I agree with Shai' in saying that the Sakuraba, unless he suddenly change direction midair and have five foot long legs, wouldn't have been able to do that. but hey, it's fiction. and i think somehow hiruma or another crazy smart or other guy will find out a way to use someone, more than likely kurita.
so i think that kurita will simply have to move around the d-line. or it could be like the wild gunman's game where he dropped back from the line to cover the recivers.

    eh, i guessed, i'm happy

    *Possible spoiler for Chapt. 216*

Ok, I don't know too much 'bout football, but if one of your feet went out of bound it's out of bound right?? Therefore, Sakuraba couldn't have gotten a touchdown on that one since he's out of bound?!?
Today, I got lost on the road of life.

depends on what touched first in or out. it looked like he barely touched in with his foot before going out.

    You're both wrong, and right.

In the NFL, and I believe NCAA, both feet have to touch inbounds to be a legal catch.

In highschool, just the first foot.

You only need one foot in the college ranks as well. Two feet in is only in the pros.

Also using a big body like Kurita at corner isn't completely crazy. He can press and force the tall Sakuraba to go in a different direction than where he wants to go. It can work considering Deimon has a a smart safety in Hiruma to take over the actual coverage after the press coverage and speedy safety in Sena to play the passing lanes.

You see defensive ends and linebackers doing that on slot receivers and tight ends all the time in all levels of football -- and really, Sakuraba is just a receiving tight end playing the wide receiver position.

So in this case, Sena is a genius.

    In other words:

    1) Kurita jams Sakuraba to detour him and creates time before Takami can throw the pass then goes after the QB or the running back if they run it.

    2) Hiruma picks up Sakuraba and plays as a true cornerback in one on one coverage after Kurita drops off and rushes the quarterback or covers the runningback or tight end.

    3) Sena watches Kid and with the extra time from the jam Kurita forced, he now can knock the ball down or intercept it if Takami throws the pass.

In real football terms this defensive play is a exaggerated variation of the "Big CB package press cover 1" with Kurita lining up at cornerback but really playing defensive end.

It is brilliant considering Sakuraba isn't the traditional receiver, he uses mostly his size and height rather than speed and quick change of direction skills to catch balls, which is what receiving tight ends do, and that you have a super speedy safety and super smart safety in the back to cover for Kurita.

It's a great strategy can be used to force Sakuraba to go somewhere he doesn't want to go and creates time before Takami can throw a pass toward him.

I think you mean Takami instead of Kid, right?

Eh yeah. It said Takami in some places and Kid in another. Just typos, thanks for pointing it out.
