It´s a story about baseball, a father who is pitcher (his wife died years ago because of cancer I think) but has to retire because of an injury, and his six years old son Goro who admires his father so much.
For Goro he starts training as a batter and becomes really good, so he is allowed to stay in his team.

Untill he plays against an american major league world-class pitcher Gibson, and is the only one who is able to hit his pitches, after some adjusting he returns Gibsons 160 Km/h throw with a home run, totally pissed Gibsons throws a fast ball in fury and hits Goros father accidentally at his head.
Goros father stands up and everyone thinks he is okay, but his eyesight is blurred (he doesn´t tell anybody).

He dies at the next morning, Goro thought hes father was sleeping,
So after all Goro lost his father and mother, but his teacher who felt in love with his father adopts Goro.
This is the beginning of the Anime (6 episodes), after his fathers death 3 years passed and Goro has to recruit baseball member for his school club, but his mind is often twisted, should a talent like him try follow his fathers shadow no matter what, abandoning his friends, or should he just have fun with his friends, the way his father had?
