Recomend me a mecha manga, please.

... be it normal Sci-Fi, or Steampunk, or even some odd type of fantasy -- does not matter. I crave a story with huge (HUGE!!) war machines, clashing in combat with gusto.

What does matter is...
1) Art. Then better -- then better)).
2) Finished story would be much-much better, then unfinished one. Completed translation would also be a great benefit.
3) Adult characters are more welcome. Young heroes are not scorned, if the story is good, but after 50+ series of Gundam SEED I can really use a change)).

So, if you can suggest something along the lines -- thanks beforehand!

i would suggest 'patlabor'.... there's an anime too
it's a rather old manga (that's how i know it) and already finished. the series started at 1988 so for the art i think it's rather accepteble (it's old, what do you expect).. a few month ago i found out that there's a scanlation team start working on it... so yay.
the story is about a police squad of mecha (in this manga it's called labor), so the character is rather old (policemen)...
ps: i like the how the head of the police's patlabor look like and the black one too

I second patlabor. Evangelion is always a good choice. Break Blade is good too. Though there's only about seven chapters scanlated, and Yen Press recently released the first volume. I wonder if Mai-Hime counts as mecha. It's decent.

Hmm. If Simoun had a decent manga, I'd suggest that, but um, no. Voices of a Distant Star (Hoshi no Koe) has mecha, but it's *about* not the mecha, but rather about relativistic time dialation. Hmm.

I guess all I have to recommend is to third Patlabor.

sorry I'm mainly an SR mecha fan...not many RRs gearing toward Patlabor....

Does Robot wars have a manga?

I'd also recommend Appleseed. It does have mecha, but they're not all giant behemoths. Basically they range from battle armor types to weapons platform mecha, and some androids thrown in for fun.

I almost forgot about Escaflowne. Never read the manga but the anime is great. This is some high fantasy stuff. The Five Star Stories is some crazy shit too. Good luck finding scans of that though translated or raw.
