I had a look at this poster's past history. Apparently, he/she started out with shounen/seinen action-adventure, but is now reading pretty much everything. Prime game, people!
I presume you've read most of the common ones out there. Hmmm... so what else has come up since the last time I recommended stuff to you?
Seinen:
- Liar Game is an interesting psychological seinen drama about people trying to cheat and con each other out of money in a series of games.
- AIKI is a martial arts manga (similar to Change Guy) in which a legendary genius martial artist is asked by a schoolgirl to help her and her friends restore her school. Unfortunately, the guy's been disabled of most of his power, and the only thing he's interested in is sex.
Shounen romance:
- If you haven't read Maison Ikkoku yet, you must read it. Similar to Love Hina's premise, but with a more realistic cast of characters, created by the mangaka of Ranma.
- Likewise, Salad Days is a really good collection of short stories all about young love - in all aspects (first love, eternal love, forgotten love, love returned, love rejected, etc.)
- I"s is also another good romantic drama about a guy who's in love with his classmate, but keeps getting distracted by a bunch of other girls around him.
Shoujo:
- Tokyo Crazy Paradise is the earlier work by the author of Skip Beat! and featured a similar kind of storytelling. The daughter of a cop in the future gets trapped into owing a debt to her classmate, who is the son of a Yakuza boss, and must work as his body guard to pay it off.
- Hana Yori Dango is about an average girl attending a really elite high school where a quartet of the most rich and influential boys, the F4, rule the school. One day, in order to prevent her friend from getting bullied, she kicks the leader of the F4... but this starts to make him interested in her.
