Thread: Help! Forgotten title... ummm... I mean, quiz time!

Now is the time to put your manga knowledge to the test, all you manga lovers!

I read a manga series last year and can't remember the name of it. Actually, since it's so long ago, I might have gotten some of the details mixed up. Please, everyone, think hard and solve the following mystery! Okay, here we go:

The story is about a very tomboy girl who goes to the big city to live with her mother, who, coincidentally, is eloping, so our girl is stuck in Tokyo with no place to live.
Somehow, she meets up with her mum's photographer/agent (I can't remember) who says she can stay with him if she becomes a swimwear model. With pads to up her cup size and lots of makeup and a wig, the main character finally looks like a pretty girl.
The whole story is about her getting famous and falling in love with her job.
Some time along the way:
- she guest stars on an actress cooking game show and makes a decent meal out of a disgusting looking fish
- her mum turns up to live with her
- she becomes a tv show host for a morning series coz she told them that she normally got up at 5 in the morning anyways
- her mum, who the world believes to be 20 something, is actually in her mid thirties! Isn't it shocking how models and actresses lies?


It's probably one of the things that started off the recent model/actress story trend. The series is completed, which means it predates Skip Beat, The One, Lemon Angel Project and probably Paradise Kiss. It's a very cool story, and I would recommend it, except I can't remember the title.

So it's obviously a shoujo title, but I have no clue. Hmm... can you provide any information about the art style? That might help in identifying the mangaka, which would then make it easier to find the series.

This sounds almost, but not quite, like Pearl Pink by Meka Tanaka. Like, about 2/3 of the description -- the other 1/3 is stuff that means no way in hell is that right.

Are you sure the main character is a girl, and not a boy being made to cross-dress?

Ah, it's by the same mangaka as Angel Manual -- no wonder the art looked familiar.
